The space we are living in today is surrounded by arrays of image information. This is the“space of media”defined by Beatriz Columina in her text“enclosed by images”. It seems natural to us to simply breathe in all kind of information without even distillate them. Columina notes:“The idea of a single image commending our attention has faded away. It seems as if we need to be distracted in order to concentrate. As if we -all of us living in this new kind of space, the space of information - could be diagnosed en masse with Attention Deficit Order. The state of distraction in the metropolis, described so eloquently by Benjamin early in the twentieth century, seems to have been replaced by a new kind of distraction, which is to say a new form of attention. ”Columina analyzes the media“ trough Eamesses multi-media architecture. Analogies used in Earnesses work such as the circus, permit us to understand how they controlled the space they produced and regulated the flow of information. The strategical intervention of the studio is meani to catalyze the information ana imaging system according to the mutable behaviors. The studio intends to investigate the city of Istanbul and its controversies. The competition consists to analyze in a more abstract plane the ”urban blur"; shift of identity in historical sites, redefinitions, reuses, reorganizations, incoherencies, readaptations in the ancient city of Istanbul. Which shifts in architecture's fate has happened in Istanbul? What is the irony related Aya Sofia's fate? What kinds of sites have undergone radical transformations in Istanbul? Streets, mosques, infrastructures? There is no specific location for the site. The question is to understand how is the application of this duality to a sea side site in the city. The techniques used during the analysis process consist on using a mutable material wax and fixed one rubber. Using the proprieties, elasticity, holds, thickness and depth of the materials we will try to invent a model that works on its own. Then according to the model a drawing playing with the same proprieties and transmitting us information such as intensity/ depth different skins in the buildings and their classification. Columina's text awared us that media space is generated through information and alternated through time scale. Parameters controlling media space such as behaviors lead us to question their limits and representation (corporeal/incorporeal). Connections create an environment allowing every imaginable combination, permutation and configuration of networks like fluid mental space. Users contribute as consumers and producers of this cyber culture encapsulate it in a «skin».Thestudiowillaimtoapproachthecityanalyzingtheshiftsina mutable space.
