This thesis addresses the growing need for multidimensional supplier evaluation frameworks capable of capturing the complex and interrelated performance requirements of contemporary global supply chains. Increasing geopolitical uncertainty, post-pandemic disruptions, supply shortages, regulatory pressures, and the accelerating importance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria have significantly transformed the structure and expectations of supplier relationships, particularly within the automotive industry. Traditional supplier evaluation approaches have historically emphasized cost efficiency, quality consistency, and delivery reliability; however, these criteria alone are no longer sufficient to capture the broader strategic requirements of resilient and sustainable supply networks. Modern supply chains must simultaneously achieve operational efficiency, adaptability, environmental compliance, risk resilience, and long-term sustainability performance. Consequently, supplier performance evaluation has evolved into a complex multi-criteria decision problem that requires integrating multiple strategic perspectives rather than relying on single-dimension performance metrics. Within this context, this thesis develops an integrated multi-criteria decision-making framework that evaluates supplier performance under the Lean–Agile–Green–Resilient–Sustainable (LAGRS) paradigm. The proposed approach aims to overcome the limitations of traditional single-score evaluation models by decomposing supplier performance into multiple strategic dimensions, thereby providing richer analytical insight for decision makers. The framework enables the simultaneous assessment of operational efficiency, structural robustness, sustainability compliance, ESG risk exposure, contractual alignment, geographical risk sensitivity, and financial stability. By integrating these dimensions into a unified analytical structure, the model allows organizations to evaluate supplier portfolios in a more comprehensive and strategically aligned manner. The methodological structure of the study is based on hybrid multi-criteria decision-making techniques that combine both subjective and objective weighting approaches. The research design consists of four primary stages: conceptual model development, data preprocessing and normalization, hybrid weight computation, and multi-dimensional performance scoring. The conceptual framework is constructed through an extensive review of the supply chain management, sustainability, resilience, and decision sciences literature. Based on theoretical insights and industry practices, thirteen supplier performance criteria are identified and mapped onto the LAGRS perspectives. These criteria capture multiple dimensions of supplier capability, including operational performance, financial stability, sustainability process compliance, ESG institutional maturity, ESG risk exposure, contractual and regulatory compliance, internal audit alignment, supplier self-assessment maturity, structural resilience capacity, and exposure to country and geographical risks. Given the heterogeneous measurement scales present in the dataset, Min–Max normalization is applied to ensure comparability across criteria. This transformation converts all performance indicators into a standardized scale ranging between 0 and 1, enabling consistent aggregation across different measurement units and data structures. The weighting structure is developed using a hybrid integration of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), CRITIC method, and Entropy method. AHP provides a structured mechanism for incorporating expert judgment and strategic priority structures into the weighting process, while CRITIC and Entropy methods capture the informational content and variability embedded within the dataset. CRITIC identifies criteria importance based on contrast intensity and conflict structure, whereas Entropy evaluates the dispersion of information across alternatives. The integration of these three approaches through arithmetic aggregation produces balanced hybrid weights that mitigate biases associated with relying exclusively on either subjective or purely data-driven methods. Following the calculation of hybrid weights, supplier performance scores are computed using the Weighted Sum Model (WSM). This approach allows the aggregation of normalized criterion values and hybrid weights to produce both overall performance scores and dimension-specific performance indicators. In addition to the global performance index, LAGRS perspective-based scores are calculated by distributing criteria across multiple strategic dimensions while preventing double counting effects through proportional contribution coefficients. This structure enables the simultaneous evaluation of suppliers under multiple strategic viewpoints and supports a more nuanced understanding of supplier capability profiles. The empirical implementation of the model is conducted using a large-scale dataset obtained from enterprise resource planning and supplier relationship management systems of a global automotive manufacturer. The dataset includes performance information for more than 5,600 suppliers, providing a robust empirical basis for testing the scalability and applicability of the proposed framework. The large sample size distinguishes this study from many previous supplier evaluation models that rely on limited case studies or small expert panels. The availability of large-scale real-world data strengthens the empirical validity of the findings and demonstrates the practical applicability of the proposed model in industrial decision environments. Descriptive statistical analysis of the overall performance scores indicates a relatively balanced distribution centered around moderate-to-high performance levels, suggesting that the supplier portfolio does not exhibit extreme polarization but rather displays heterogeneous performance patterns across different dimensions. The analysis reveals that supplier performance cannot be fully explained through a single performance dimension, supporting the fundamental premise of the study that supplier capability must be evaluated through a multidimensional framework. Perspective-based performance analysis demonstrates that resilience and sustainability dimensions exhibit relatively stable and high average scores, while agility-related indicators display higher dispersion levels. This finding suggests that while many suppliers have developed structural robustness and compliance capabilities, adaptive capacity and rapid responsiveness remain unevenly distributed across the supplier base. Statistical testing confirms that performance differences across LAGRS dimensions are significant, indicating that suppliers cannot be assumed to perform consistently across all strategic capability areas. This highlights the importance of avoiding aggregated performance measures that obscure structural differences between suppliers. The analysis further demonstrates that operationally strong suppliers may still exhibit weaknesses in sustainability compliance or ESG risk exposure, emphasizing the need for multi-layered performance assessment structures in supplier portfolio management. Cluster analysis based on LAGRS dimension scores reveals the existence of three distinct supplier performance segments. The first cluster represents strategically aligned suppliers demonstrating consistently strong performance across all dimensions, indicating high levels of integration capability and long-term partnership potential. The second cluster includes suppliers with strong operational performance but relatively limited adaptability or sustainability maturity, suggesting a need for targeted development strategies. The third cluster contains suppliers with relatively low performance across multiple dimensions, indicating potential vulnerability within the supply network. These segmentation results illustrate that supplier portfolios cannot be effectively managed using uniform evaluation strategies, and differentiated supplier development approaches may be required depending on performance profile characteristics. The theoretical contribution of this thesis lies in the integration of lean efficiency, agile responsiveness, environmental sustainability, structural resilience, and long-term sustainability considerations within a single analytical decision framework. Existing literature often examines these dimensions independently or considers only partial combinations, leading to fragmented insights regarding supplier capability structures. By proposing a unified LAGRS-based evaluation framework, this study contributes to the development of more holistic supplier evaluation models capable of capturing complex performance interdependencies. Furthermore, the hybrid weighting structure advances methodological discussions within multi-criteria decision-making literature by demonstrating how subjective expert knowledge and objective data characteristics can be integrated to improve model robustness. Another key contribution of the study relates to its empirical scale. Many existing supplier evaluation studies rely on limited datasets that may not adequately capture real-world variability in supplier performance. The use of a large dataset involving more than 5,600 suppliers enhances the generalizability of the findings and demonstrates the operational feasibility of the proposed framework within real supply chain environments. The model structure also allows flexible adaptation to different industries or decision contexts by modifying the criteria set or adjusting weighting structures. From a managerial perspective, the proposed framework provides decision makers with a structured tool for evaluating supplier portfolios under multiple strategic priorities simultaneously. The model supports more informed supplier selection, segmentation, and development decisions by identifying structural strengths and weaknesses across multiple capability dimensions. This multidimensional perspective enables organizations to balance short-term efficiency objectives with long-term resilience and sustainability goals. In addition, the framework supports risk-informed decision making by highlighting suppliers with high exposure to ESG risks, geographical vulnerabilities, or compliance limitations. The findings of the study indicate that multidimensional supplier evaluation approaches can significantly improve the interpretability and strategic relevance of supplier performance analysis. Rather than relying on single composite indicators, decomposing performance into strategic capability dimensions allows decision makers to better understand the structural characteristics of supplier portfolios. Such insights can support more effective supplier development programs, risk mitigation strategies, and sustainability integration initiatives. Despite its contributions, the study also acknowledges certain limitations. The analysis is conducted using cross-sectional data, which limits the ability to capture temporal dynamics in supplier performance evolution. Future research may extend the proposed framework through longitudinal analysis to examine how supplier capabilities evolve over time. Additionally, the model assumes static weighting structures, whereas dynamic weighting approaches may provide additional insight into changing strategic priorities under different market conditions. Further methodological extensions may include integrating interdependency modeling techniques such as ANP or DEMATEL to capture causal relationships between criteria, as well as stress testing scenarios to evaluate supplier performance under disruption conditions. In conclusion, this thesis proposes a scalable and methodologically robust supplier evaluation framework that integrates multiple strategic performance dimensions within a unified analytical structure. The LAGRS-based hybrid multi-criteria decision-making model demonstrates strong applicability in large-scale industrial environments and provides both theoretical and managerial contributions to the supplier evaluation literature. The findings emphasize the importance of adopting multidimensional performance assessment structures to better capture the complex capability requirements of modern supply chains. By combining methodological rigor with practical applicability, the proposed framework offers a comprehensive decision support tool for organizations seeking to enhance resilience, sustainability, and strategic alignment within their supplier networks.
