Özet

Çalışma kapsamında alüminyum matrisli grafen nano levha (GNL) takviyeli metalik kompozit köpüğün basma testi analizi sonlu elemanlar programı yardımıyla yapılmıştır. Analiz için nano ve milimetre boyutlarında temsili hacim elemanları (THE) oluşturulmuştur. Nano boyuttaki THE'ler hacimce %0,06, %0,12 ve %0,54 oranında GNL takviyesi içermektedir.

In this study, the compression test analysis of aluminum matrix graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) reinforced metallic composite foams was conducted using finite element analysis (FEA) software. Representative Volume Elements (RVE) were generated at both nano and millimeter scales fort he analysis. The nano-scale RVEs contained GNP reinforcements at volume fractions of 0.06%, 0.12% and 0.54%. Simulated compression tests were applied to these models, and the material properties required for the subsequent scale were obtained. At the millimeter scale, foam models with porosity ratios of 50%, 55% and 62% were generated using an algorithmic approach. The material properties derived from the nano-scale analysis were defined as the matrix material properties for the millimeter-scale foam models, thereby establishing the composite metallic foam models. Compressive loading was applied to the generated models up to a strain of ε=0.5 to obtain the characteristic stress-strain curves of the foam structures. Plateau and yield stresses (MPa), toughness (MJ/m3) and energy absorbed in the plateau region (MJ/m3) were analyzed from the stress-strain curves obtained from the compression tests. Consequently, it was determined that plateau and yield stresses, toughness, plateau energies increased as the GNP reinforcement ratio increased while keeping the porosity ratio constant. Conversely, when the GNP reinforcement ratio was held constant, an increase in porosity resulted in a decrease in plateau and yield stresses, toughness and plateau energies. The maximum increases in yield and plateau stresses were observed in the 0.54% GNL-reinforced 55% porous RVE by 88% and 133%, respectively. Furthermore, the highest enhancements in plateau energy and toughness values were also recorded in the 0.54% GNL-reinforced 55% porous RVE, with increases of 93.6% and 155%, respectively. Furthermore, stress concentrations were visually examined and it was observed that stresses accumulated around the pores and at the cell walls where pores intersected. As a result of this study, it has been demonstrated that the representative volume element (RVE), which reflects the properties of the entire bulk material, can be progressively modeled without the need for physical laboratory experiments. Unlike the single-scale analyses in the current literature, this study introduces a novel multi-scale numerical methodology that directly integrates the nanoscale reinforcing effect of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) into the millimeter-scale randomly porous foam morphology. Through this hierarchical modeling approach, it has been proven that composite metallic foam structures can be precisely designed and subjected to computational compression tests, thereby providing significant savings in terms of time, labor, and financial resources.
