Özet
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to search the effects of belief in a just world, the fairness perception in self-related events and individualist-collectivist aspect of the personality on punishment and reward attitudes and organizational justice. The first assumption of this study is that the more employees have the belief in a just world and the more they have the perception of being treated fairly by the others in life, their attitudes towards punishment and reward will be more positive and their organisational justice perceptions will be higher. In addition, the personality tendencies of emlpoyees whether individualist or collectivist will have an effect on this positive perception. In other words, employees who have a positive justice belief about the world and themselves develop positive punishment and reward attitudes via their individualist or collectivist personality; therefore, they perceive their workplace more just. During the statistical analyses, individualist-collectivist scale turned out to be three-dimensional. This third dimension which is between individualist and collectivist dimensions is called as independent-collectivist dimension The data were collected from 110 employees working in a a public institution in Istanbul, employees in the same institution. The results show that belief in a just world, collectivist aspect of the personality and independent-collectivist aspect of personality have no explanatory powers on punishment and reward attitudes and organizational justice. The fairness perception in self-related events is found to have explanatory power on all variables of organizational justice, however it is also foundto have no explanatory power on punishment and reward attitudes. Finally, individualist aspect of personality is the only variable that has an explanatory power on punishment and reward attitudes and it also has an explanatory power on retributive justice.
