Özet
VII. 75
Özet (Çeviri)
VIII. SUMMARY Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of death in the western countries. Distribution of colorectal carsinoma on colonic segments is known to be changed in the recent decades. This change in the distribution is known to be towards proximal colonic segments. However there is no epidomiologic study on this subject in Turkey. Additionally colorectal cancers can be protected by screening procedures and early diagnosis can result in curative teraphy. The aim of this study is to investigate the change in colorectal cancer loacalization by time and to determine the approach of specialists who are thougth to know the colon adenoma spectrum, to colorectal carcima screening procedures, by the way to prepare a database to a colorectal carcinoma screening program. In this study 1771 patients operated for colorectal carcinoma between 1985-2001 at Surgery Deparment of Ankara University Medical Faculty were evaluated. Hospital recordings and patient files were investigated for age, sex, tumor localization and change in locazation by time, operability ratio and operative procedures for colorectal carcinoma. On the other hand the approach of specialists to colorectal cancers screening tests were questioned by using a written form. At the end of the study although limited to a localized segment a change in colorectal cancer localization has been detected. The number of sigmoid colon tumors was found to be rising while the number of rectum tumors was decreasing. The operability ratio of the patients was found to be increased by the time and sfincter saving procedures for rectal tumors was found to be prefered recently. During the period investigated early stage of colorectal cancers were very low in number and there were no change in the ratio of early stages by the time. 76On the other hand of the study, specialists who deal with colorectal cancers and who know rise groups were found not to be using the screening procedures for their parents and for themselves. In conclusion although the localization was found to be changed it is possible and necessary for our country to prevent colorectal carcinoma by screening procedures. 77
