GENEL BİLGİLER Adı ve Soyadı : Nazım KURUCA Anabilim Dalı : İktisat Tez Danışmanı : Prof. Dr. Tiğinçe OKTAR Tez Türü ve Tarihi : Doktora-Haziran 2003 Anahtar Kelimeler : Trabzon Gümrüğü, Transit Ticaret, İran Ticareti, : İpek Ticareti, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ÖZET YÜZYILDA TRABZON GÜMRÜĞÜ VE ÇEVRE TİCARETİ Bu araştırmanın amacı, Trabzon Gümrüğü ile İran ve çevre ülkeler arasındaki ticarî faaliyetlerin Tanzimat sonrasında Osmanlı ekonomisine sağladığı faydaları ortaya koymak ve ülkemizin gelecekteki ekonomik projelerine tavsiyelerde bulunmaktır. Bölgeye ilişkin literatür taranmış ve kronolojik olarak tasnif edilmiştir. Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivleri belgeleriyle de desteklenmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Trabzon Gümrüğünde Tanzimat sonrasında meydana gelen ticarî faaliyetler ve bu faaliyetleri etkileyen unsurlar, ekonomik ve sosyal yönlerden incelenmiştir. Buna göre Trabzon - İran transit ticaretinin sadece ticarî hayat değil sosyal hayatı da etkilediği belirlenmiştir. Trabzon ve çevresinin tarihî önemi vurgulanmış ve çalışmada, Trabzon Gümrüğünün öneminin geniş ticarî hinterlandından kaynaklandığından bahsedilmiştir. Buna ek olarak Osmanlıların bölgeyi fethinden sonra meydana gelen gelişmeler kronolojik olarak verilmiştir. Çalışmamızda, XDC. yüzyılda Trabzon Gümrüğüne özellikle İran'dan gelen mallar hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Buna ek olarak, bölgedeki ticaret konusunda Osmanlı İmparatorluğu, İngiltere ve Rusya arasında kıyasıya bir rekabet olduğu ortaya konulmuştur. Ulaşım koşullan, nüfus hareketleri ve salgın hastalıklardan kaynaklanan ticarî hayattaki değişmeler de belirlenmiştir. Son yirmi yılda Yakın Doğu'da meydana gelen ekonomik ve politik gelişmeler Doğu Karadeniz Bölgesi'ni özellikle Trabzon Limanını daha önemli hale getirmiştir. Bu bağlamda, Trabzon limanının Yakın Doğu ülkeleri ile ekonomik ve politik bağları güçlendirebilecek önemli bir ticaret merkezi haline gelebileceği kuvvetle muhtemeldir.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE Name and Surname : Nazım KURUCA Field : Economics Supervisor : Professor Tiğinçe OKTAR Degree Awarded and Date : Doctorate- June 2003 Keywords : Trabzon Customs, Transit Trade, Iran Trade, : Silk Trade, Ottoman Empire ABSTRACT THE TRADE IN TRABZON CUSTOMS AND TRABZONS SURROUNDINGS IN 19 CENTURY The aim of this study is to research the profits which was provided to the Ottoman Economy after the period of Tanzimat by the commercial activities between Trabzon customs and Iran and its surrounding countries. The research also gives implications for our country's further economical projects. The literature related to the region has been reviewed and categorised chronologically. It is also supported by the Prime Minister's Ottoman Achieve documents. After the commercial activities, the period of Tanzimat in the Trabzon customs and the elements which affected these activities have been examined both economical and social aspects. According to this, it is determined mat the Trabzon - Iran transit trade affected not only the commercial life, but also the social life. The historical importance of Trabzon and its surroundings has been stressed It was also mentioned that the Trabzon customs become important because of its large commercial hinterland. In addition to this, economic and social developments which happened after the Ottomans conquer of the area have been given chronologically. In our study, it has been given information about the goods which were brought, particularly from Iran to the Trabzon customs in the 19. century. The study also revealed that there was a fierce rivalry on trade in the region among the Ottoman Empire, England and Russia. The changes on the commercial life which were caused by the transport conditions, movements in demography and epidemic diseases have been determined in the study as well. In the last two decades, the economical and political developments occurred in the Near East, the Eastern Black Sea Region, particularly the Trabzon customs more important In mis context, it is highly possible that the Trabzon Port will become an important trade centre which will be able to strengthen the economical and political ties with the Near East countries. n
