Özet
ii ÖZET Robert Creeley (1926- ) çağdaş Amerikan şiirinin en önemli ozanlarından biridir. Şairin adı özellikle modern sonrası (postmodern) yazarlarla birlikte anılır, çünkü Creeley postmodern yaklaşımlardan hem etkilenmiş hem de katkıda bulunmuştur. Creeley modem şiirin ileri aşamalarından, özellikle de William Carlos Williams ve Ezra Pound'un şiir anlayışlarından etkilenmiştir. Bu şairlerin T.S. Eliot ve Yeni Eleştiri kuramı tarafından yönlendirilen şiir kalıplarına karşı tavırları, Creeley için örnek oluşturmuştur. Postmodern kavramı, II. Dünya savaşını izleyen toplumsal ve kültürel değişimleri yorumlarken o güne dek kabul edilmiş normları sorgulayan farklı bakış açılan sonucunda ortaya çıkmıştır. Postmodern şiir anlayışı da modern şiir kalıplarının dışma taşarken, Amerikan romantik geleneğinden izler taşır. Bu çalışmanın başlığını oluşturan Creeley'nin şiirinde benlik, zaman ve hareket kavramlarını incelerken şiirlerden yola çıkılarak kuramlara ulaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Creeley için şiir, öncelikle kişisel duygu ve deneyimlerin yansımasıdır.“Ben”kavramı şairin yaşamı dışında kavram ve teoriler arasında herhangi bir konu değil, şiirde aktarılan yaşamın özüdür. Bu öz aynı zamanda evren ve yaşamı oluşturan enerjiye eşittir.“Ben”yaşamın kendisidir ve yaşamı anlamak“ben'i”anlamak demektir. Şairin zaman kavramını ele alışı da benlik konusu ile bağlantılıdır. Varoluş ve benlik kavramları ancak zaman ve mekan kavramları yoluyla anlaşılabilir. Creeley mekan olgusunun gerçeklik değerinin zaman kavramından yüksek olduğuna inanır. Zaman kavramı bir soyutlamadır; insan düşüncesinden bağımsız bir mekan gerçeği var olmasına rağmen, bilinç dışında bir zaman olgusu olanaksızdır. Yaşamının, benliğin içinde bulunduğu ân ve noktaya eş olduğunuİÜ düşünen şair için geçmiş ve gelecek kavramları insanın yaşamla bütünleşmesini engelleyen soyutlamalardır. Creeley'nin eserlerinde hareket kavramı, şairin biçim ve içerik üzerine görüşlerinin bir sonucudur. Biçim ve içerik arasındaki ilişkiyi“biçim içeriğin uzantısından başka birşey değildir”sözleri ile açıklayan şair, şiirdeki öznelerin hareketlerini şiirin yapısına işler. Şairin kullandığı teknikler sonucu, gerçek yaşamda hareketli olan özne şiir içinde de hareket halindedir. Sonuç olarak, Creeley yaşamı şiirle tanımlamak yerine, yaşamdaki özellikleri şiirde canlandırarak şiiri nefes alıp veren bir varlığa dönüştürmeyi amaçlar.

İv ABSTRACT Robert Creeley, (1926- ), is one of the most outstanding poets of contemporary American poetry. The poet's name has often been associated with postmodern writers, since he has been both influenced by postmodern attitudes and has contributed to them. Late stages of modernist poetry, especially the poetry of William Carlos Williams and Ezra Pound have been influential on Creeley's poetics. The reactions of these poets against the poetic conventions which were led by T.S. Eliot and New Criticism have formed a model for Creeley. The term“postmodern”is an outcome of the novel points of view which have questioned the validity of celebrated premises while interpreting the social and cultural changes following World War II. The Postmodern approach in poetry has also displayed certain characteristics which have gone beyond the patterns of modernist poetry, and which have borne the traces of American romantic tradition. The subject of this study consists of the concepts of the self, time, and motion in Creeley's poetry. During the study, the purpose has been reaching at underlying theories byway of the poems. For Creeley, poetry is a reflection of personal experiences and emotions. The concept of the self is not an ordinary issue among the concepts and the theories, but it is the essence of life which is depicted In poetry. This essence is equal to the energy which is the cause of life.“Self Is equal to life, and to understand life is to unterstand the self. The poet's handling of the concept of time is related to the issue of the self. The concept of the self can be comprehended only In relation with the conceptsV of time and space. Creeley believes that the factuality of space is superior to the factuality of time. Time is an abstraction; it is not possible to mention the reality of time existing independently from the human mind. However, space exists in itself. The abstractions such as the past and the future are obstacles on man's way to achieve a unity with life. For the poet, life occurs only here and now, where and when the self is. The concept of motion in Creeley's poetry is a consequence of his thoughts on form and content. Stating the relationship between form and content in his words ”form is never more than an extension of content," Creeley feeds the motion of the subjects into the structure of the poems. By means of the techniques that the poet uses, a subject which is capable of motion in real life is also in motion in the poems. As a result, instead of defining life by way of poetry, Creeley charges the poem with the characteristics of life and aims at transforming poetry into an entity which breathes.
