Özet

Xlll ÖZET Çalışmanın amacı A. B. D. Savunma Bakanlığı bünyesinde faaliyet gösteren Türkiye'deki DoDDS okullarında eğitimini sürdüren öğrenciler, öğrenci velileri ve öğretmenlerin bu okullarda İngilizce olarak okutulan Türk kültürü dersine ve Türk kültürü öğretmenlerine karşı olan tutumlarını ve algılarını ölçmek, bu dersin eksik ve olumlu yönlerini saptamak ve öğrenci, öğretmen ve veliler arasında karşılaştırmalar yaparak verilen Türk kültürü programını değerlendirmektir. Araştırmanın evreni, Türkiye'de bulunan tüm DoDDS öğrenci, öğretmen ve velilerini kapsamaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi,“Tabakab Rasgele Örnekleme Yöntemi”(Stratified Random Sampling Technique) ile seçilen 2001-2002 öğretim yılının ikinci yarısında eğitimini sürdüren öğrenciler, bu öğrencilerin velileri ve öğretmenlerinin tümünü kapsamaktadır. Araştırmaya anasınıfı öğrencileri de dahil edilmiştir. Her sınıftaki öğrencilerin %25'i Tabakab Rasgele Örnekleme Yöntemi ile rasgele seçilmiştir. Tarama modelindeki bu araştırmanın verileri, araştırmacının geliştirmiş olduğu dört anketin öğrenciler, bu öğrencilerin velileri ve öğretmenlerine uygulanmasıyla elde edilmiştir. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde,“t-test tekniği”,“ANOVA Varyans Analizi”ve“Scheffe Testi”kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler ve bu ölçme aracının güvenilirliği ''Statistical Package for Social Sciences" (SPSS) paket programıyla analiz edilerek sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Ölçeğin iç tutarlılığı Alpha Cronbach tekniği ile hesaplanmıştır. Önemlilik değeri olarak a=.05 kabul edilmiştir.

XIV ABSTRACT The purpose of the research is to gain a better understanding of the Host Nation Intercultural Education Program and to analyze the attitudes perceived by Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) students, parents and teachers towards the Host Nation Intercultural Education Program in the Turkey District, and to identify its strengths and weaknesses in relationship with student life, and to evaluate the given Host Nation Program through making comparisons among the three American Schools in Turkey, and to propose recommendations to the problems identified after data analysis. The population of the research consists of all the DoDDS students, parents and teachers in Turkey. The Second Semester 2001-2002 enrollees of the American schools located in Turkey were considered as the population sample. To obtain a more representative sample,“Stratified Random Sampling Technique”was used in order to measure the attitudes of students, parents and teachers. Kindergarten students were selected for the research, too. Only 25% of the students in each grade level were drawn at random. The design of this descriptive study is a survey and the data of this survey were collected by administering four surveys developed by the researcher. The“t-test technique,”“Analysis of Variance (ANOVA)”and“Scheffe Test”were used for the analysis of the data. The reliability of the findings and the data-gathering instrument was analyzed by the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and conclusions were drawn accordingly. The Coefficients of the data gathering instrument were calculated with the Alpha Cronbach technique. The level of significance was considered as a=.05.
