KEYWORDS: Fundamental and Prep-training Programme, Goals, Behaviours, Teacher Trainee Training a teacher trainee, is an educational process which is applied to the teachers who are the indispensable parts of the educational system. The aim of this research is to determine what the elementary school teachers expect from basic and prep-training programmes, whether 60 hour- fundamental, 120 hour prep programmes are enough (in terms of duration) to meet the goals and behaviours which are explained in the programme, whether trainees have preliminaries about these programmes. Research universe consist of 174 teacher trainee who are expose to training trainee programme in Sakarya in 2003-2004 and 25 people who are in charge of the programme (inspectors, managers, teachers, instructors). 150 teacher trainees out of 174, which constitute the research universe and all the people who are in charge of the programme (inspectors, managers, teachers, instructors) are supposed to be sample group. There are 3 inquires (questionnaire). First one is held to get the expectation level of trainnees about fundamental and prep programmes. The other one is organized to know that they get the expected behaviour after the programme. According to the research findings it is understood that expectations of trainers behaviours which are supposed to be gained after the programmes and the realization level of expected behaviours are high. It is observe that people who are in charge of the programme do their best, it is suitable to apply the basic and preparation programme to the trainees adapt the programme. They join in the programme because of legal obligation. They demand in academic year programme is operating in they request that programme operates. 60 hour duration for fundamental training is seen enough. But 120 hour duration for prep training is counted much. ix
