217 THE EDUCATION OF MIDDLE MANAGEMENT AT THE GOVERMENT RAILWAYS ASSOCATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY ( TCDD ) ABSTRACT The department of education which is established within the General Management of TCDD directs ih~house education activities at TCDD. There is not a research abaut the evaluation of educational activities which are given to the middle management at TCDD. What is gained against all efforts; of -cost- s that occured durring these activiti es is. not searched.lt is decided that this study should be mads since this subject is still current. The fallovings are used as performance criteria in the evalus tion of the in-house educational activities than is given to the middle management at TCDD; Identification of education evaluation planning, schedule, aplicationcof TCDD middle level managers, upper level super visors of the instractors who give the ih-house education to the middle management constitute the main basis for this study. Since is not possible to reach all middle management the sumpling method is used. It is tried to reach all upper level supervisors of the instructors. All reguletions, statutes, instructions, directions, circulars, notices of activites betveen the years 1981 of 1990 are read in order- to collect all data related to the education that is given to the middle management. A pall is taken of applied to 122 persons. Durring - the analysis of the pall taken, frequency histograms, mean, standard deviation, variance analysis, Harmonic (P) test and other statistical techniques are used. Confidence level was taken 0.05 At the result of the research a detailed evaluation is made. Dueto this evaulation, in order to increase the effectivity of efficiency of the in-house educational activities that are given to middle management at TCDD, v some suggestions are proposed. sssrs^
