SUMMARY The aim of this research was to study the relationship between the bureaucratic position and office equipment from the standpoint of the hypothesis that, in modern bureaucratic organizations, hierarchic structure does not exist only in the organization scheme but also the rewards that symbolize each position depends on a hierarchic order. When studying this, the congruity relation between the status and other rewards was also taken into consideration. In order to achieve this, first the relationship between the bureaucratic position and other rewards and then the one between the rewards and office equipment were tried to be obtained. The research area consisted of Atatürk Üniversitesi, Devlet Su îşleri VIII. Bölge Müdürlüğü and Erzurum Orman Bölge Müdürlüğü. In these institutions, the greatest harmony was found to be between bureaucratic position and level of education, salary and mobility; the least harmony was between the bureaucratic position and the authority, free lodging and office equipment. In the first two organizations the relationship between the bureaucratic position and office equipment was not in harmony while it was in complete harmony in Erzurum Orman Bölge Müdürlüğü. In all organizations the relationship between the office equipment and level of education, salary and mobility was not harmonious whereas there was a positive relationship between office equipment and free lodging and the authority.
