SUMMARY MARAŞ, İbrahim,“Molla Lütfı's Philosophical and Theological Thoughts”, M.A. Thesis (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Hayrani Altıntaş) Molla Lütfi (d. 900/1494) was born in Tokat. He is one of the outstanding figures of Ottoman times in Turkish culture. His injustice death took an important part in the life of Turkish thought. He was put to death by the jealous scholars of his time. The claims put forward which caused to the death of Molla Lütfi are not valid reasons for his execute. The command for his execute was always a discussing point both in his time and in the following years. That he always criticised other scholars plays very important role in his death. Molla Lütfi wrote a lot of work on philosophy, theology, classification of science, maths, logic and linguistics. Among his work the book concerning maths which is dealth with“Delos Problem”called“Tazlfül-Mezbah (Doublication of the Altar)”, the book called“Mevzuâtül-Ulûm (Subject Matters of Sciences) in which he made the classification of science and the book called ”Risale fî Uslu Suca' (The Booklet About Uslu Şucây in which he criticised the scientific and administrative structure of his time are orginal books in their own fields. He followed the knowledge idea which much influenced by philosophy of the following theologists in knowledge theory. His philosophy of existence is based on İbn-i Sinafc (Avicenna) thought which is about existence and essence. He divided the administration into two parts as religious and rational and stated that both Caliph an Sultan should have the same qualifications. As for his thought of ethics, they are based on classical ethics theory. The main purpose is to reach good ethics. His critic point of view, work and thoughts stated above differ him from the scholars of his time. His all those characteristics are explained detailedly in my thesis. -92- f.
