Özet (Çeviri)
SUMMARY Philosophy of mind is one of the most active fields in philosophy today and the problem of Consciousness is one of the main issues of this field. According to Dualism there are nonphysical effects of the brain events and these effects does interact with brain events. For epiphenomenalism the accorunace of nonphysical effects has itself no effects whatoever on subsequent events in the brain and hence behavior of the person. The identity theory claims that mental ewents are brain events. Another approach in this eria is functionaiism For functionalists mental states and events are not brain states but functional states. Mental events must be classified in terms of their role not what they mode of. Whether or not mental events are brain events do not make any difference on their role. These ideas were the first issue for us, beceause it can be say that consciousness is a pure brain event so to understand consciousness we have to understand the brain. The second issue is the meaning of Consciousness and its concentent. 58According to Dennett Consciousness is not one feature or phenomenon or aspect of mind but several. A plausable and cousistent analysis of consciousness is possible with“the little men in the brain”, who is a introspector, a perceiver, a reasoner and a knower. This idea is known as homuncularism. After giving the sides about discussion and the meaning of the word, my aim is to show that although consciousness needs a brain it can not be identified with the brain. To understand what I mean we might consider the levels of explanations. There are low level of explainations and high level of explanations. Some information or knowledge or ideas can exist at the level of collective activities, while beign totally absent at lovest level (brain eels). For example; Traffic Tarns: high level of explanation: Plays the role of thought. Taxis: low level of explanation: Plays the role of neurons or neuron-firings. Does the fact that taxis stop at red lights mean that traffic jam stop at red lights? 59
