Özet
1848'de baslayan resmi ogretmenlik egitimi ile ogretmenligin ulkemizde modern anlamda mesleklesmesi de baslamistir. Guntimiize gelindiginde bazi eksikliklere ragmen, ogretmenligin bir meslek olarak kabul edilmesi konusunda cok yol almrmstir. Ancak, ogretmenlerm sosyal statuleri a9ismdan aym gelisme olmamistir. Cumhuriyet'in kuruldugu ilk yillann disinda, ogretmenlerin sosyal statuleri istenir duzeyde olmamistir. Ulkenin gelecegine yon verecek nesillere rehberlik etmesi beklenen ogretmenlerin, dusuk sosyal stattileriyle bu gorevi basanh bir sekilde yerine getirmesi son derece gu9tiir. 21. yuzyilda gittik9e mzlanan, tiiiB alanlardaki degisimler, ixlkeleri, onlarm sistemlerini, sektorlerini zorlarken tiim bunlari surdurebilmek i9in daha rekabetti olmalan gerektirmektedir. Artan egitim gereksinimi ile birlikte, bir yandan daha nitelikli ogretmenlerin sisteme ginnelerine yonelik tedbirler ahmrken, diger yandan da bu ogretmenlerin sosyal statulerini arttirmak i9in gerekli kosullar hazirlanmah ve uygulanmaya ge9irilmelidir. Ulkemizde ogretmenlerin sosyal statuleri, ge9en 150 yil içinde ekonomik, siyasal ve kiilturel nedenlerle farhhklar gostermistir. Son yillarda ise, ogretmenlik meslegine ilginin artmasma ragmen bu meslegin sosyal stattisti genel olarak diismeye devam etmektedir. Bu tez 9ahsmasmm amaci ogretmenlerin kendi sosyal statulerini mesleki ve meslek disi faktorlere gore nasil degerlendirdikleri ile hangi problemlerin sosyal statulerini en 90k olumsuz etkiledigini bulmaya yoneliktir. Tez çalismasi için Istanbul lli, Bah9elievler Il9esi simrlari i9inde yer alan devlet ilkogretim okullarmda ogretmenlerin sosyal statulerini nasil algiladiklanm tespit etmeye yonelik bir anket uygulanmistir. Anketten elde edilen veriler uygun istatistild analizlere tabi tutulduktan sonra sonu9lar degerlendirmeye almmistir. Tez 9ahsmasimn son bolumiinde ise, Ogretmenlerin sosyal statulerini yukseltmeye yonelik 96ztim onerilerine yer verilmistir.

With starting officially training teachers in 1848, teaching job has become a true occupation in our country in modem term. Although there are still some problems, after more than 150 years, teaching job has been widely accepted as a profession. But, it is hard to say that, the likely development has taken place in terms of teachers' social status. Except in Republic's first years, the teachers' social status hasn't been in the desired level. With this low level of social status, it isn't logical to expect teachers being very successful to prepare new generations to the future. The 21st century's accelerating changes require nations to be highly competitive. With the increasing need of education, while, more qualified teachers have to enter to the system, those teachers have to be supplied with every means necessary to increase their social status. There have been differences and fluctuations in social status of teachers within the 150 years in our country due to economical, political and cultural conditions. Although there is an increasing interest in the profession, the social status level of teachers is still decreasing. In this research, we aimed to find out which occupational and non-occupational factors are affecting teachers' social status most and, how they evaluate those factors. For this research, a questionnaire delivered to collected from state primary school teachers whose post were in Bahcelievler, Istanbul. After applying required statistics to the collected data, results evaluated accordingly. At the end of the thesis, along with conclusion, some solutions are offered for the problems that found by the research.
