Özet
Ders kitapları gelişen teknolojiye rağmen halen okullarda eğitimin temel aracı olarak kullanılmaktadır. Birçok ülkede olduğu gibi ülkemizde de biyoloji ders kitapları öğretmen ve öğrenci gözünde vazgeçilmez öğretim materyallerindendir. Ülkemizde biyoloji ders kitapları üzerine yapılan çalışmaların çoğu kitapların içeriği ve tasarımı üzerine odaklamaktadır. Biyoloji ders kitaplarının okunabilirlikleri üzerine ise çok az çalışma bulunmaktadır.Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından hazırlanan ortaöğretim 9. sınıf biyoloji ders kitabının okunabilirliğini ve hedef yaş düzeyine uygunluğunu belirlemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda şu sorulara cevap aranmıştır:1- Kitaptaki üniteler ile ilgili metinlerin farklı formüllere göre okunabilirlik düzeyleri nasıldır?2- Bu metinlerin okunabilirlik düzeyleri öğrencilerin yaş seviyelerine uygun mudur?3- Mevcut okunabilirlik formülleri Türkçe dil yapısına uygun mudur?Çalışmanın amacı doğrultusunda, ortaöğretim 9. sınıf biyoloji ders kitabındaki her üniteden iki metin olmak üzere toplam altı metin örneği seçilmiştir. Bu metinlerin okunabilirlik düzeyleri flesch-kincaid formülü, gunning fog indeks, sönmez formülü ve cloze test yöntemleri ile incelenmiştir. Sönmez Formülü ve Cloze Test formülleri için örnek metinler Konya'da iki ayrı lisenin 9. sınıfında öğrenim gören toplam 100 öğrenciye okutulmuştur. Örnek metinler her bir formüle göre ayrı ayrı analiz edilmiştir.Bulguların analizi sonucunda;-Flesch-kincaid formülüne göre kitabın okunabilirliğinin düşük, okunabilirlik yaşının ise 26 olduğu,-Gunning fog indeksine göre kitabın hukuk diline yakın, kabul edilemez ölçüde zor olduğu,-Cloze testine göre kitabın öğrenciler tarafından anlaşılmasının zor olduğu,-Sönmez formülüne göre ise kitabın açık ve anlaşılır olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır.Bu sonuçlar, ortaöğretim biyoloji ders kitabındaki örnek metinlerin okunabilirliğinin ölçülmesinde, Gunning fog indeks ile Flesch-kincaid formülünün Türkçe'nin dil yapısından dolayı uygun olmadığını ve Sönmez formülü ile Cloze test yönteminin biyoloji metinlerinin okunabilirliğinin ölçülmesinde daha doğru sonuçlar verdiğini göstermiştir. Sonuçlar literatür bilgisi ile karşılaştırılmış ve öneriler geliştirilmiştir.

In spite of advancing technology, textbooks are still the basic tools of education in schools. As in many countries, biology textbooks are the indispensible teaching materials in the eyes of both teachers and students in our country. Most of the studies on biology textbooks in our country are focused on the content and design of the books. On the readability of the biology textbooks, on the other hand, there are very few studies.The main purpose of this study is to determine the readability and suitability for the targeted age level of the secondary education 9th grade biology textbook prepared by the Ministry of National Education. To this end, answers to the following questions were sought:1-How is the readability levels of the texts regarding the units in the texkbook according to different formulas?2-Are the readability levels of these texts suited to the age levels of the students?3-Are the present readability formulas suited to the Turkish language structure?In line with the purpose of the study, two texts from each unit in the secondary education 9th grade biology textbook, making a total of six text examples, were chosen. The readability levels of these texts were investigated with the Flesch-Kincaid formula, Gunning Fog index, Sönmez formula and the Cloze test methods. For the Sönmez Formula and ve Cloze Test method, the sample texts were read by a total of 100 students studying in two different high schools in Konya. The sample texts were analyzed separately for each formula.As result of the analysis of the findings, it has been established that;- According to the Flesch-Kincaid formula, the readability of the book is poor, readability age is 26,- According to the Gunning fog index, the book is close to legal language, unacceptably difficult,- According to the Cloze test, the book is difficult to understand by students,- According to the Sönmez formula, the book is clear and understandable.These results have shown that, in measuring the readability of the sample texts in the secondary education biology textbook, the Gunning fog index and Flesch-Kincaid formula are not suitable due to the structure of the Turkish language, and that the Sönmez formula and Cloze test method gave more reliable results in the measurement of the readability of biology texts. The results have been compared with literature information, and suggestions developed.
