Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı ilköğretim 6. sınıf sosyal bilgiler dersi, ``İpek Yolunda Türkler'' ünitesi kavramlarının öğretiminde, kavram haritası tekniği kullanılmasının öğrenci başarısına, öğrenilen bilgilerinin kalıcılığına ve sosyal bilgiler dersinde öğrenci tutumlarına olan etkisini ortaya koymaktır.Araştırma, 2009?2010 öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde Yalnızbağlar İlköğretim Okulu (Rumuz) 6/A ve 6/D sınıflarında öğrenim gören 106 öğrenci üzerinde yapılmıştır. Çalışma, 6/A sınıfı 54 öğrencisi deney grubu, 6/D sınıfı 52 öğrencisi kontrol grubu şeklinde yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada 8 hafta süresince deney grubuna kavram haritaları tekniğiyle desteklenmiş eğitim, kontrol grubunda ise geleneksel öğretim yöntem ve teknikleri kullanılarak eğitim verilmiştir. Bu yönüyle araştırma deneysel çalışma türünde bir çalışmadır.Araştırmanın verileri başarı testi, kalıcılık testi, ön tutum-son tutum testleri, öğrenci kompozisyonları, mülakat kayıtları, öğrencilerin çizdiği kavram haritalarından elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen nicel veriler, SPSS. 17.0 istatistik programıyla t testi ve Kolmogorov Simirnov testleri yapılarak analiz edilmiştir.Araştırmanın sonucuna göre kavram haritasının, düz anlatım yöntemine göre öğrenci başarısında, bilgilerin kalıcılığında ve derse olan tutumlarında olumlu etkisi olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The main aim of this research was to reveal the effects of consept mapping techniques on the students success, the retention of knowledge and the change of the students? attitude towards social studies course while teaching the concepts of `Turks at the Silk Road? unit at the 6th grade level in elementary school.The research was done, in the second term of 2009-2010 academic year, with the particpation of 106 students, studying at 6 grade level in an elementary School. The study was carried out as an experiment group composed 54 students and a control group composed of 52 students at 6 grade level. During the research, the experiment group was instructed with the techniques of concept mapping and the control group was instructed with traditional teaching medhods such as lecture and recitatson.The research data was gathered from achievement test, retention test, pre and post attitude tests, student compositions and interview records and the concept mappings drawn by the students. The quantitave data was analyzed by applying t test and kolmogorov simirnov done with SPSS 17.0 statistic program.Accorting to the research results, it is concluded say that concept mapping technique is more effective than traditional teaching methds in terus of it?s effect on student success, permanency of the knowledge and the change of the students attitude towards the course.
