Özet
Çalışmada Osmanlı Devleti'ne tâbi Hüdâvendigâr Vilâyeti'nin bir sancağı olan Karesi Sancağı'nda (Balıkesir) 1876-1908 yılları arasında eğitimin dağılımı incelenmiştir. Hüdâvendigâr Vilâyeti Sâlnâmeleri çalışmanın temel kaynağını teşkil etmektedir. Karesi Sancağı ve Kazalarındaki maârif komisyonları, okullar, öğrenci sayıları, öğretmen ve diğer görevli kadroları, medreseler, kütüphaneler ve gayrimüslimlere ait okullar sâlnâmelerdeki bilgiler doğrultusunda tasnif edilmiştir.Çalışma beş ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde; Karesi Sancağı'ndaki maârif komisyonları tanıtılmıştır. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünü Karesi Sancağı'ndaki ilköğretim kurumları yani sıbyan ve ibtidâî mektepleri oluşturmaktadır. Üçüncü bölümde; Karesi Sancağı'ndaki ortaöğretim kurumları yani rüşdiyeler ile idâdîler tanıtılmıştır. Dördüncü bölümde; Karesi Sancağı'ndaki geleneksel eğitim kurumu olarak faaliyet gösteren medreseler ile kütüphaneler incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın beşinci ve son bölümünde Karesi Sancağı'nda gayri-Müslimler tarafından kurulan okullar tanıtılmıştır.

In this study in the sanjak of Karesi (Balıkesir) which was one of the sanjak of the Province of Hüdâvendigâr related the Ottoman Empire, the dispersion of the education has been studied between the years of 1876 and 1908. ?Hüdâvendigâr Vilâyeti Sâlnâmeleri? (Province of Hüdâvendigâr?s Annuals), constitutes the basic source of the study. Education committees in the sanjak of Karesi and its county, the schools, the number of students, the staff of teachers and the other charges, ?Medreseler?, libraries and the schools which belong to non-Muslims have been classified in the direction of the informations in ?Hüdâvendigâr Vilâyeti Sâlnâmeleri?.The study is composed of five basic sections. In the first section; . Education Committees which are in the sanjak of Karesi have been introduced. The second section of this study constitutes Primary Education Institutions namely ?Sıbyan and İbtidâî? schools. In the third section Secondary Education Institutions namely ?Rüşdiyeler and İdâdîler? have been introduced. In the fourth section; the ?Medreseler? which worked as the instution of traditional education, has been studied. In the fifth and last section, the schools which were founded by non-Muslims have been introduced.
