Özet

Televizyon programlarındaki şiddetin Ortaöğretim öğrencileri üzerindeki yetiştirme etkisinin incelendiği bu çalışmada, televizyon programlarındaki şiddetin yetiştirme etkisi, Gerbner ve arkadaşlarının Kültürel Göstergeler Projesi kapsamında ortaya çıkan Yetiştirme Kuramı açısından ele alınmıştır.Çalışmada, Ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin televizyon izleme ve şiddet yoğun bir içeriğe sahip yerli bir televizyon dizisi olan Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu dizisini izleme pratiklerinin, öğrencilerin sosyal gerçekliğe ilişkin algılamaları (acımasız ve tehlikeli dünya algısı, şiddet algısı, suç korkusu, toplumdaki şiddetin ve toplumdaki suçlu oranının tahmini) üzerindeki etkisinin ortaya konması amaçlanmaktadır.Konya İl Merkezindeki Ortaöğretim Okullarını temsilen seçilen sekiz lisede öğrenim gören 640 öğrenci üzerine soru formu yardımıyla uygulanan saha araştırmasında elde edilen veriler, SPSS yardımıyla Ki-Kare, T-Testi, ANOVA, Hiyerarşik Çoklu Regresyon Analizi ve Lojistik Regresyon Analizi istatistik teknikleriyle yorumlandı.Araştırmada elde edilen bulgulara göre; Lise öğrencilerinin televizyonu çok izleyenlerinin az izleyenlerden; daha fazla acımasız ve tehlikeli dünya algısına, daha fazla şiddet algısına, daha fazla suç korkusuna sahip olduğu; toplumdaki şiddet oranını ve toplumdaki suçlu oranını daha fazla gösterdiği;Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu dizisini çok izleyenlerinin, hiç izlemeyenlere ve az izleyenlere göre; daha fazla acımasız ve tehlikeli dünya algısına ve suç korkusuna sahip olduğu;Televizyon izleme süresinin, Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu dizisini izleme pratiklerinin (çok izleyenlerin hiç izlemeyenlere ve az izleyenlere göre) ve cinsiyetin (erkeklere göre kızlar) acımasız ve tehlikeli dünya algısı üzerinde yetiştirme etkisi gösterdiği veTelevizyon izleme süresinin, Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu dizisini izleme pratiklerinin (çok izleyenlerin hiç izlemeyenlere ve az izleyenlere göre) ve cinsiyetin (erkeklere göre kızlar) suç korkusu üzerinde yetiştirme etkisi gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir.

This study, which aims to investigate the cultivation effect of violence in television programmes on Secondary Education students, has dealt with the cultivation effect of violence in television programmes in terms of Cultivation Theory, which emerged within the scope of Cultural Indicators Project developed by Gerbner et al.The present study intends to reveal the effects of Secondary Education students? television viewing in general and their viewing practices of a TV series entitled ?Valley of Wolves?, which features intensive violence, on students? perceptions of social reality (Mean World Syndrome), perception of violence, fear of crime, estimation of violence rate within society and crime rate within society.The data, which were obtained from a field study that was conducted via a questionnaire administered to 640 students who attended 8 high schools selected to represent Secondary Education Schools in the city of Konya, were interpreted using statistical techniques of Chi Square, ANOVA, Hierarchical Multiple Regression Analysis and Logistical Regression Analysis by the help of SPSS software.According to the findings of the study, it was determined that high school students who watched television longer had more mean world syndrome, more perception of violence and more fear of crime than those who watched shorter and exhibited higher rate of violence in society and higher crime rate in society.It was also determined that those who watched ?Valley of Wolves? a lot had more perception of mean world syndrome and fear of crime than those who watched less or did not watch at all.It was found that duration of television viewing, viewing practices of ?Valley of Wolves? (the proportion of those watched a lot to those who watched little or did not watch at all) and gender (girls relative to boys) exhibited cultivation effect on mean world syndrome.Finally, it was determined that duration of television viewing, viewing practices of ?Valley of Wolves? (the proportion of those watched a lot to those who watched little or did not watch at all) and gender (girls relative to boys) exhibited cultivation effect on fear of crime.
