Özet

Huzurevinde yaşayan yaşlıların sosyal yaşam desteği algılarını ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla yapılan tanımlayıcı bir çalışmadır. Araştırmanın evrenini İstanbul Anadolu yakasında kamu kurumlarına ait huzurevlerinde yaşayan 65 yaş üstü yaşlılar oluşturdu. Evreni temsil edecek örneklemi belirlemede, istatistik konusunda uzman kişilerden yardım alınarak örneklem oluşturuldu. Örneklem sağlıklı yaşlı sayıları üzerinden tabakalı örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak belirlendi. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak bilgi formu ve çok boyutlu algılanan sosyal destek ölçeği kullanıldı. Çalışma sonunda şu sonuçlar çıkmıştır. Huzurevinde yaşayan yaşlıların özel kişi desteği anlamlı derecede düşük çıkarken, aile ve arkadaş desteğinin normal düzeylerde çıktığı görülmüştür. Huzurevinde kalan yaşlıların sosyal yaşam desteği algısını aile, arkadaş, akrabalarla sürdürülen sosyal ilişkiler, aileyle paylaşım ve kararlara katılım, evli olmak, anlamlı derecede yükseltirken, ekonomik durumun ve eğitimin sosyal yaşam desteğini etkilemediği, yaşlılığa ve huzurevine yüklenen anlamların olumsuz olması, sosyal yaşam desteği algısını düşürdüğü görülmüştür. Huzurevinde yaşayan yaşlıların sosyal yaşam desteği algısını yükseltip, yaşam doyumunu artırmak için sosyal ilişkilere ve aile desteğine daha fazla önem verilmeli, bireylerin ihtiyaçları ve algılamalarına göre hizmet planlanmalıdır.

This study is a descriptive study which was conducted to determine the perceptions of social life support of the old who live in nursing home and the factors that affect these perceptions. The population of this research consists of the old who are over 65 who live in nursing homes that belong to the public institutions in Anatolian Side in İstanbul. The sampling was formed taking assistance from the experts specialized in statistics when determining the sampling which will represent the population. The sampling was determined using the stratified sampling method over the number of the old who are healthy. Information form and social support scale that is perceived multi-faceted have been used as a tool for data colection in this research. The following results have been found in this study: while the support of private person for the old living in nursing home is significantly low, it has been seen that the support of family and friend is in normal level. While the family, friend, the social relations with the relatives, sharing with family and participating the decisions, being married significantly increase the perception of the social life support of the old living in nursing home, it has been seen that the economic situation and education does not affect the social life support, and the negative opinions about nursing home and old age decrease the perception of the social life support. More importance should be given to social relations and family support in order to increase the life saticfaction and perception of the social life support of the old living in nursing home, and services should be planned according to the needs and perceptions of the individuals.
