Özet
Çalışma TOBB Ekonomi ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi, Yabancı Diller Bölümü, hazırlık okulunda orta seviyede, 2011-2012 akademik yılının 2. döneminde yürütülmüştür. Çalışma, 40 kontrol, 40 deney grubu öğrencisi olmak üzere, 80 hazırlık okulu öğrencisini kapsamaktadır (41 erkek, 39 kız). Öğrencilerin basit ve bileşik cümle bilgileri hakkında veri toplamak için, öncelikle, grupların ikisine de ön-test uygulandı. Sonra, kontrol grubuna basit ve bileşik cümleler, öğretmenin otorite ve tek bilgi kaynağı olduğu, geleneksel metotla öğretildi. Kontrol grubunun aksine, deney grubuna basit ve bileşik cümleler, araştırmacı tarafından Microsoft PowerPoint programının bir uzantısı olan Macromedia Breeze sunum programı kullanılarak hazırlanmış bilgisayar-tabanlı aktivitelerle, ders saatlerinde öğretilmiştir. Son olarak, her iki gruba da son-test uygulanmış ve sonuçları karşılaştırılmıştır. Ön-test ve son-testten elde edilen bütün veriler SPSS 16.0 tarafından analiz edilip değerlendirilmiştir. Bu çalışmayı yürütürken, bilgileri analiz etmek için nicel metotlar kullanılmıştır. Cümle bilgisi bakımından kontrol ve deney grubu arasındaki farkı anlayabilmek için bağımsız örneklemler t-testi ve bağımlı örneklemler t-testi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda, kontrol ve deney grubu arasında sonrakinin lehine anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur. Bu sonuçlar ışığında, gelecekteki İngiliz Dili Eğitimi alanı için birkaç pedagojik çıkarım ve öneriler yer almıştır.

The study takes place at TOBB University of Economics and Technology at intermediate level in Foreign Languages Department, preparatory school during the second semester of 2011-2012 academic year. The sample of the study included 80 preparatory students as 40 control group students and 40 experimental group students (41 male, 39 female). To collect students? data about their knowledge about simple and compound sentences, first of all, both of the groups are applied with a pre-test. Then, control group is taught simple and compound sentences in a traditional way in which the teacher is the authority, and the only source of knowledge. In contrast to control group, experimental group is taught simple and compound sentences with computer-based activities designed by the researcher using Macro Media Breeze Presentation Program which is an extension of Microsoft PowerPoint in the class hours. Finally, both of the groups are tested with post-test examination and their scores are compared. All the data gathered by the pre-test and post-test have been analyzed ans assessed by SPSS 16.0. In conducting this study, quantitative methods have been employed to analyze the data. An independent samples t-test and a paired samples t-test have been used to understand the difference between the experimental and control group with regard to their sentence knowledge. As a result of the study, there has been a significant difference between control group and experimental group in favor of the latter. In the light of these findings, several pedagogical implications for future English Language Teaching field and suggestions have taken place.
