Özet

Bu araştırmada, ortaokulda görev yapan İngilizce öğretmenlerinin derste yöntem-teknik kullanma yeterlilikleri incelenmiştir. Araştırma, ortaokul İngilizce öğretmenlerinin derste yöntem-teknik kullanma yeterliliklerinin, mesleki kıdem değişkenine göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını ve İngilizce öğretimi ile ilgili hizmet içi eğitime katılan ve katılmayan öğretmenler arasında yöntem-teknik kullanma yeterlilikleri açısından anlamlı bir fark olup olmadığını bulmak amacı ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın evrenini, 2012-2013 eğitim öğretim yılı, Ankara ili ve merkez ilçelerinde, devlet veya özel okulda görev yapan ortaokul İngilizce öğretmenleri oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın örneklemini ise uygun örnekleme (Convenience sampling) yöntemi ile seçilmiş 372 ortaokul İngilizce öğretmeni oluşturmuştur. Bu araştırmada, tarama modeli ile verilerin çözümü ve yorumlanmasında, betimsel istatistik yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veriler, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen anket ile toplanmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak ilgili literatür taranmış, öğretmen ve uzman görüşleri de dikkate alınarak 25 soruluk

In this research, it is examined that secondary school English language teachers' perceptions of competence in terms of their use of methods and techniques. This study is conducted in order to determine whether there is a difference between the teachers who joined in-service training, and the teachers who didn't join in-service training; and also to figure out whether their teaching experience affects their perceptions of competences. The population of the study is the English teachers who work in the state and private secondary schools in Ankara in 2012-2013 educational years. The sample of this study is 372 secondary English teachers who selected by convenience sampling method. In this study, survey method is used and descriptive statistical methods are used to analyse and to interpret the data. Data is collected with the questionnaire which was developed by researcher. In order to collect the data, an English language teacher' perceptions of competence in terms of their use of methods and techniques questionnaire including 25 items which was created in accordance with the expert view and literature review was developed. The questionnaire consists of 2 parts, personal information and the skills of usage of methods-techniques. Means, frequencies, t-test, tukey test and ANOVA were utilized for the analysis of the data. It's found that there isn't significant difference between the secondary school English language teachers? perceptions of competence in terms of their use of methods and techniques and seniority. There is a significant difference between teachers who joined once in-service training and teachers who join three or four times in-service training.
