Özet
Diplomasi, devletlerin tarihinde her zaman büyük rol oynamış ve diplomatik münasebetleri yürüten kişiler olmaları dolayısıyla elçiler de devletleri adına önemli görevler üstlenmişlerdir. Diplomatik münasebetler çoğunlukla ve özellikle siyasî ve askerî sebeplerle ortaya çıkıp yine siyasî ve askerî neticeler doğurmakla beraber, zamanla ülkelerin medeniyet tarihlerinde de elçilerin gelişleri ve gönderilmeleriyle ilgili bir kültürel çerçeve gelişmiştir. Osmanlı Devleti?nde de, devletin geleneksel ve kültürel yapısının elçi kabulleri sırasında uygulanan teşrifâta önemli ölçüde yansıdığı söylenebilir. Bu çalışma, Sultan II. Selim?in hükümdarlığında (1566-1574) Osmanlı Devleti?ne gelen elçileri tespit etmeyi, söz konusu dönemde kurulan diplomatik münasebetler hakkında bilgi vermeyi ve elçi kabulleri çerçevesindeki teşrifâtı ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır.

Diplomacy has played a major role in the histories of the states all the time, and the ambassadors who are the people carry out diplomatic relations have undertaked important tasks on behalf of their states. Diplomatic relations usually and especially come out because of politic and military reasons and have politic and military results. Additionaly over the time a cultural framework has developed about diplomatic relations and envoy acceptances in the culture histories of the states. Like this, the Ottoman State has had a protocol about diplomacy and envoy acceptances that had been affected by traditional and cultural rules and structure of the state. This thesis aims to determine which ambassadors have come to the Ottoman State in the reign of Sultan Selim II (1566-1574), to give imformation about the diplomatic relations in this period and explain the protocol of the envoy acceptances.
