Dr. Melihi SJÜ3LÂM This espireraent in the effects of gamma rays in different dö¬ şe ie applied to the seeds of t,wo kinds of Triticuını durum Desf. onsome characterictics of MI plants was done on the application and research farm of the department of farm plants of Tekirdağ Agricul tural Faculity of University of Thrace in October 1990-1991. In the research the kinds Akbaşak and Tunca-79 Triticum durum Desf. were used. The experiment was fixed according to divided plots tes ting design as three repeated. From doses of gamma rays used in the research the earliest exit was found as 5 and 10 krad, the latest exit was found as 25 krad. Smutting rate is between 48.3-73.4 While the highest smutting rate was 10 krad, the lowest smutting rate is found as control to earing day number the kind Tunca-79 was found higher than Akbaşak. While the earliest earing was found in 13.8 value with 0 and 5 krad applied, the latest earing was found in 15. 5 with 25 krad applied The weight with stems was between 3045. 9 - 2341.7 g the highest value was 0 krad and the lowest value was 20 krad. For the lenght of stem, the highest plant was found as 112.6 cm with 10 krad application,, and the lowest plant was calculated as 109. 0 cm in 25 krad dose. While the thickest stem was calculated as 3. 82 mm with 25 krad doses the thinest stem was calculated as 3.53 mm with 0 krad application. The number of ears in a square meter was between 668.3-386.7 The roost value was found in 10 krad application of the kind Tunca-79 least value was found in 20 krad application of the kind Akbaşak The longest ear was 8.25 cm in 25 krad the highest dose application, and the shortest ear was 7.95 cm in 0 krad dose. The ear number in an was found as 22. 5 in most 10 krad doses and the least ear number in an ear was found as 21.8 inVI 20 krad doses. On -the kinds Akbaşak number of grain in an ear was more C7.3) than the kind Tunca-79 while the number of grain in most ears was found in 5 krad application, the least number of grain in ear was found in 25 krad application. The most weight of ear was calculated as 1.8 g in 0 krad application and the least weight of ear was calculated as 1.6 g in 15.20 and 25 krad application. Harvest index in Tunca-79 was more than Akbaşak. The most Harvest index was 19.7 % in 5 krad doses, the lowest Harvest index was 15.7 % in 25 krad doses. In grone yield, the values in the kind Akbaşak was more than the kind Tunca-79. The most grain yield in a square meter was found as 593. 0 g in 0 krad dose and the least grane yield was 389. 4 g in 20 krad doses. On the kind Akbaşak Thousand Kernel weight was more than the kind Tunca-79, The highest thousand kernel weight was 44.0 g in control of the kind Akbaşak and the lowest was found as 30.7 g in control of the kind Tunca-79.
