This study was performed at the Marmara University, Medical Faculty Hospital, ·Inpatient Psychiatry Department. Aim of the research was to determine whether the chronic schizophrenia patients were able to fulfil their self care and to meet social activity needs in an ideal way after being educated in these subjects. Evaluation of this education program was made by patients and person who was responsible for their care with an interview. The data was gathered with two forms including socio-demographic variables form for both person who was responsible to patients care and the patient and Marmara Evaluation of the Medical Treatment and Family Interview Form. The data was Analysed by using percentages, means, standard deviation, Repeated Measures Analysis of Variance, Student - Newman Kuels Multiple Comparisons Tests. As a result, we found that there were statistical differences between pre education and post education and home visiting one month later, of the patients to joining casual home life, life frontiers, self care, social domain, symptoms and clinical crisis, usage of the establishment of hospital clinic occupation and school activities, reactions to the medical treatment, and contribution to solutions of family problems (P < 0.05).
