Özet (Çeviri)
Because of microorganisms and their produds are the most common cause of pulpal and periapical disease, the success of root canal treatment depends on redudion and elimination of microorganisms present in root canals. The use of an irrigation solution with antimicrobial properties may help disinfection of root canals. Sodium hypochlorite is the most widely used endodontic irrigant. But because of toxicity, odour, discoloration properties and limited shelf life of sodium hypochlorite, an equally effective, but safer irrigant is more desirable. Chlorhexidine and Cetrexidin are alternative endodontic irrigants to sodium hypochlorite. Therefore, we compared the antimicrobial adivity and long therm release from dentin of sodium hypochlorite (5.25%,2%, 0.5%), chlorhexidine digluconate (5.25%,2%, 0.2%) and Cetrexidin as root canal irrigants against aerobe and anaerobe microorganisms in vitro. In the first part of this study, absorbent paper pOints were contaminated one of the seven test microorganisms and embeded to one of the seven test solutions for periods ranging from 15 to 120 s. The points were then placed into a growth medium, incubated and presence or absence of growth recorded. In the second part, agar diffusion test was used to compare the antimicrobial effects of 1, 3 and 10 days incubated dentin specimens after treated by one of the test solutions. The results revealed that; 1- 2% chlorhexidine digluconate has the same antimicrobial effeds with 5.25% sodium hypochlorite in short time period. 2- 0.2% chlorhexidine digluconate and Cetrexidin did not have any antimicrobial effect against to Candida albicans in short time periods, but sodium hypochlorite had. 3- Dentin specimens treated by chlorhexidine digluconate (5.25%, 2%, 0.2%) and Cetrexidin showed antimicrobial properties even after 10 days as first day but sodium hypochlorite did not.
