SUMMARY Monuments which constitute the subject of this study are buildings of various functions such as mosques, mescits, medresesses, tombs, baths, arastas, bridges and fountains which are located in Gümüşhacıköy and its sub-district Gümüş and belong to the Turkish period. These are dated to the period from the late 14th century to the late 19th century. The plan types used in these buildings which were generally shaped according to regional characateristics formed a basis for spatial development starting from early periods. In spite of the progress made in the quality of the interior space, there is a lack of integrity between the main building and its superstracture when looked from exterior. This and the massive impression of the facades indicate that the architectural problems could not have been solved entirely the majority of the buildings are made of rubble stone which is a very commonly used material in the region. Although rubble stone is used as the only construction material in most cases a different technique is applied in two of the buildings where rubble stone is surrounded by frames one course of brick. In some other buildings another tecnique named hımış149 is used where the main structural system is made of timber and brick or adobe is used as the filling material. The monuments are without extensiver ornamentation, yet, the Darphane Camii is worthy of note with its paintwork mad on wood.
