The purpose of this thesis is to propose and account:ing system to Turkish contracting conpanies, so that they set up the account:ing system on their projects according to the technical speafications of job. It is necessary to build up a control system on the projects :in order to obtain scne financial infornation from accounting systems. In this thesis, it is also submitted how such a control system o~rates and its relationship with the account:ing system on fundarrental basis. The acknowledgements about the general and accolllting structures of Turkish contract:ing conpanies that are rrentioned in the follONing chapters of this work, are obtained from the projects and head offices of Sezai TUrkel;;-Fevzi Akkaya Cons. Co. and Enka Cons. Co. These ~ conpanies are the lead:ing Turkish contractors in terms of the contract value of their ongo:ing and conpleted projects in Turkey and foreign collltries. Moreover, sorre project managers of these conpanies were :interviewed to get their expectations from accounting systems, and it is e}{plained that the :incarre and cost figures of all :inportant ~rks of projects should be got seperately from accounting systerrs. Obviously, it is required in order to make nore proper desicions on directing projects. Sezai 'lUrkel;;-Fevzi Akkaya has organized a work team for adopt:ing such control and accounting systems to the existing projects and the author was also participated in this team as a responsible person for the application of project accounting system on the projects.
