Özet
Bu araştırma, 16 ve 20. yüzyıl Batı resim sanatında -aynı yapıtta- modelleriyle beraber kendilerini de tasvir eden öncü sanatçıların söz konusu resimleri üzerinde durmaktadır. Kullanılan modellerin kimlikleri ile sanatçıya olan yakınlıkları ve bu türdeki eserlerin oluşturulma nedenlerinin sorgulandığı bu araştırmada, resim sanatı tarihinde 15. yüzyılın ikinci çeyreğinde Masaccio ile başlayan bu resmedişin, 16. Yüzyılda diğer Rönesans sanatçılarının da dahil olmaları ile ivme kazandığı görülmüştür. Birinci bölümde portre ve otoportrenin kısa tanımı, tarihçesi ve örnekleri incelenmiş; ardından araştırmaya konu olan, aynı resimde betimlenen sanatçı ve modelin sanat tarihindeki sahneye çıkış evrelerine göz atılmıştır. Tezin ikinci bölümünde, 16. yüzyıldan 20. yüzyılın ilk yarısına değin bu amaçla oluşturulan ve örnek teşkil eden yirmi üç esere ulaşılmış, kronolojik sıralamayla yer verilen söz konusu eserler ayrı ayrı incelenmiştir. Araştırma problemine ve alt problemlere ana bölümlerde yanıt aranmış, edinilen bulgular ve yanıt bekleyen sorular yine ana bölümlerde açıklık kazanmıştır.

This research emphasizes avant-garde artists who portrey themselves with their models in the same picture in 16. and 20. century western painting art. In this research, which questions identity of models used in painting and proximity to artist and the reasons of composing in this type of work, in the history of painting art in the second quarter of 15. century the picturing, which begins with Masaccio, was seemed to gain momentum with the including of the other Renaissance artists in 16. century. The short definition of portrait and self-portrait, the history and examples of them are analyzed in the firt chapter, afterwars, debut phases of artist and model, who is the subject of the research and described the same painting, is mentioned. In the second chapter of thesis, from the 16. century to the first half of 20. century twenty three pieces of work, which are composed for that reason and constitute example, are reached and those works, which take place chronologically, analyzed separately. Research problems and sub-problems are searched for answers in main chapters, findings that obtained and the questions waiting for answers were made clear in the main chapters again.
