Özet (Çeviri)

This study used a quantitative, nonexperimental research design to examine actions that distinguish effective police leaders from less effective ones, based on the strategic leadership model developed by John Pisapia and others. The study questioned whether strategic leader influence actions affect followers' perceptions of leader effectiveness. The moderating effects of organizational and individual characteristics on the use of strategic leader influence actions were also investigated. The sample included 244 subordinate officers from Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD). Descriptive statistics revealed that officers perceived their leaders as exhibiting all five strategic leader influence actions. Inferential statistics indicated that the more leaders applied strategic leader influence actions, the more they were perceived as effective by their subordinates. There was also a significant relationship between a leader's rank and their use of strategic leader influence actions. Additionally, there was a significant overall predictive relationship among the use of strategic leader influence actions, personal characteristics, the type of unit, and leader effectiveness. No significant associations were found between leaders' type of unit and the use of strategic leader influence actions. Based on the findings, this study suggests that police leaders can improve their effectiveness by applying strategic leader influence actions. Therefore, the strategic leadership model can be used as a principal management strategy. Police organizations that incorporate strategic leadership principles in their leadership development programs can improve the effectiveness of police leadership, minimize conflicts between leaders and followers, and enhance the quality of police service in communities. Consequently, strategic leadership positively affects the performance of police organizations.
