This study investigates how the behavioural intention to pirate digital music is affected by six independent factors. The increase in technology and the ease of file distribution is allowing Internet users to make rapid file transfers and this includes the downloading of music files. Despite the fact that music files are copyrighted, duplicates or unpaid copies are being distributed freely on digital platforms. As there are complications for pirating copyrighted material, this leads to the question of why downloaders prolong their piracy behaviour; knowing that there are legal and monetary repercussions of participating in it. A total of eighty-five university students (including Master's and PhD students) participated in an online questionnaire for this research. The research borrowed measurement scales from previous related publications and compiled an extensive questionnaire. Results analysed with correlation and linear regression reflected that only two of the hypotheses were partially supported while the remaining hypotheses were not supported. Although this research is not an exact extension of any work it references, it aims to contribute to the literature of some scales that had not been used in the field of digital music piracy.
