Ill SUMMARY Master Thesis ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT IN BUSINESSES -An Application- Atılhan NAKTİYOK Supervisor:Asst.Prof.Dr.Nurullah GENÇ 1995 JURY Environment which has direct or indirect impact on every organism is quite important phenomenon for firms. Firms does not execute their operations in a vacuum and they have to evaluate elements conditions of their environment where they live in order to benefits from and to be able to resist threats which comes from environment, in detail. Environment conditions can be distinguished into two groups: Internal and external environment's conditions. Internal environment conditions can be controlled by firms. External environment conditions have some impact on firm's life and development but they are difficult to control and take place out of firms. Firms influenced from these internal and external conditions are also close relation with many enviromental groups. These groups can be called as interactive groups or close enviromental factors.IV When talking about firm's environment terms, it must be identified two dimension of them which have most impact on firm's operations. These are variation dimension which show frequency of unexpected events in enviromental factors over the time and complexity dimension which mentions about number and assortment of enviromental factors and similarity in organizational efficiency. Enviromental uncertainty which reflects the degree of information about environmental elements' reaction against firm's nature are also very important for any firms. Variation speed, complexity and uncertainty which dinamic dimensions of firms environment are joining up environment attitude against firms so that various enviromental tissues are optained. Some of the most important environmental tisues are placid-randomized, placid-clustered, disturbed-reactive and turbulent field. These are available on every time for firms and have potential effect on firm's operations. In terms of economics and social perspective, environment, nowadays, offers dinamism and variation. Environment which includes dinamism and variation in itself may confronted with threats which may put business in difficult position. Therefore, firms must be agree with environment. But this is not enough for firm's growing and development.ln order to cope with unknown enviroment, firms must take environment under the control and manage it. Especially, because of the progress comes from industrial revoluation, natural environment which provides all kinds of input into firms are getting to be spoil and to come to end or to deplete.One of the main cause of this problem is the firms. Certainly, firms do not cause all of the problems which occur in natural environment. But firms have two side. These are both producing problems and solving problems. Therefore, firms must take necessary steps and do things whice provide ecological balance, emphasising on problems and using both qualitative and quantitative means. In short, this study consists of four chapters. The first three chapters include theoretical framework and the fourth chapter tests some of the concept with regard to environment. In the fourth chapter is also related with applications and analysis of the factors which have impacts on firms.
