Özet

Sonsuzluk, felsefe tarihinin ilk dönemlerinden itibaren fizik, matematik ve metafizik ilimler açısından müzakeresi yapılan temel problemlerinden birisidir. Sonsuzluk ontolojik ve/ya kozmolojik bir bağlamda müzakere edilmesi öncelenmesi gerekirken itikadi bir boyut alarak insanların, Tanrı anlayışının şekillenmesine yol açmaktadır. Felsefi bir kavram olarak incelenebilecek olan“sonsuzluk”Tanrı, evren ve insan ilişkisinin temellendirilmesinde bir mihenk taşı haline dönüşebilmektedir. İslam filozoflarına göre felsefenin amacı“tahsilu's saada”yani ebedi mutluğa ulaşmanın bilgilerini elde etmek iken sonsuzluk kavramını yorumlarından dolayı toplumdan dışlanmakta ve ötekileştirilmekte, hatta tekfir edilebilmektedir. Bu bağlamda tezin temel konusu“Özünde ontolojik bir mesele gibi gözüken ama aynı zamanda kozmolojik bir soru/n olarak fizik, matematik ilimlerle doğrudan irtibatı olan sonsuzluk tasavvurları, nasıl itikadi bir soruna dönüştürülüyor?”sorusunun cevabını aralamaktadır. Âlemin mahiyetine, yani ezeli ve/ya yaratılmış olmasına dair yapılan araştırmaların temel kavramı olan sonsuzluk yorumları niçin itikadi bir boyut alıyor ve insanların dışlanmasının, ötekileştirilmesinin ayracı olmaktadır? Alemin sonluluğu ve/ya sonsuzluğu meselesine verilen cevap, Tanrı-evren ilişkisini temellendirirken aynı zamanda kişinin Tanrı tasavvurunu da belirlemektedir. Bu soru/n çerçevesinde tezimizde bir sıfat olarak sonsuzluk kavramını Tanrı'ya atfettiğimizde neleri kastettiğimizi, bu kavramın sadece Tanrı'ya mı ait olduğunu araştıracağız. Klasik dönem İslam filozofu Kindî'yi merkeze alarak sonsuzluk kavramının İslam felsefesindeki yeri ve konumu, bunun matematiksel düşünce tarafından mukayesesini ve tutarlılık analizini yapacağız. Bu analizleri yaparken, öncelikle mantık ve matematik ilişkisi üzerinde duracağız, sonra matematiksel denklemleri ve çok boyutlu yüzeylerin geometrisini inceleyen bilim dalı olan topolojiden de istifade edeceğiz. Bu açıdan tez mantık-matematik ve felsefe ilişkisinin güncellenmesinde ve bir nevi matematik felsefesi yapma alanında ilk denemelerden biri olarak görülebilir.

Eternity is one of the basic problematics, in terms of mathematics, physics and metaphysics from the early a.g.e.s of philosophy history. While the term of eternity should be discussed within the terms of ontology and cosmology, in the course of time gaining another dimension, changed the peoples' conception about God. The notion of eternity which can be approached as a philosophical issue, may turn into a touchstone which is used in founding the relationship among God, nature and the human. While according to the Islamic philosophers, the main purpose of the philosophy is“tahsil'us-saada”which means gaining the information to reach the beatitude, these philosophers are excluded from the society, marginalized and excommunicated due to their interpretations on eternity. The paper argues, how the notion of eternity, while in fact is an ontological issue but at the same time, as a cosmological problematic directly relates to physics and mathematics turns into a faith problem. Why the interpretations on eternity, which is a key term in studies on the essence of the universe (universe is eternal and/or created by God), turns into a faith problematic and cause the philosophers to be marginalized?So that these Muslim philosophers are not only excluded from the society, but also excommunicated which brings the absence of the beatitude in after life.Accordingly the answer given to the problematic which concerns the finiteness and eternity of the universe, while founding the relationship between the God and the human, at the same time determines the thought of the individual about God. Within this paper we will try to answer the question that, what we intend to claim when we attribute the eternity as an adjective to God and whether the notion of eternity belongs only to God. In the beginning we will define the term of eternity and will try to determine the issue which results from the unconformity of description and the problem. Also we will try to determine whether there is a de facto eternity in this world. We will view how eternity is defined and used in mathematics and physics. Afterwards while analyzing the notion of eternity as a cognitive issue we will try to explain how it is used in literature and art. We also aim to clarify whether the definitions of eternity are the same in different branches of science, then determine the problems stemming from the eternity notion in metaphysics and to address the solutions brought in order to overcome these problems especially in Islamic philosophy history. Referring to Kindî who is a philosopher of classic era Islam Philosophy, we will try to determine place of the notion of eternity to make comparison with the mathematical thought and consistency analysis. While making these analysis, primarily we will study the relationship between logic and mathematics, then we will make use of mathematical equations and topology. In this regard this paper might be seen as one of the very early trials on updating the relationship between logic-mathematics and philosophy and mathematics philosophy.
