Özet
Bu tez çalışmasında Pergamon Kralı III. Attalos'un krallığını ve kişisel servetini M.Ö.133'te Roma Cumhuriyeti'ne vasiyet etmesi ve bunun sonucunda ortaya çıkan üvey kardeşi Aristonikos'un (III. Eumenes) bu vasiyete itiraz edip krallıkta hak iddia etmesi ve sonucunda Roma Cumhuriyeti ve Roma'nın Küçük Asyalı müttefiklerine karşı başlattığı ve uzun yıllar devam eden isyan hareketi ele alınmıştır. Çalışma dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde, Aristonikos İsyanı'na kadar Pergamon Krallığı'nın kuruluşu, gelişmesi ve Attalos Krallığının diğer kent ve devletlerle ilişkileri açıklanmıştır. İkinci bölümde Pergamon kralı III. Attalos dönemi, krallığını ve kişisel servetini Roma Cumhuriyeti'ne miras bırakması ve Roma Cumhuriyeti'nin vasiyete tepkisi açıklanmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde Pergamon krallarından II. Eumenes'in oğlu Aristonikos'un (III. Eumenes) karakteri, sarayla bağlantıları, üvey kardeş III. Attalos'un vasiyeti sonucunda krallığın kendisi yerine Roma Cumhuriyeti'ne miras bırakılması ve ardından Aristonikos'un tahtı ele geçirmek için başlattığı isyan hareketi detaylı bir şekilde açıklanmıştır. Dördüncü ve son bölümde ise Aristonikos'un başlattığı ve yıllarca devam eden isyan hareketinin Roma Cumhuriyeti ve müttefikleri tarafından bastırılıp, Aristonikos'un esir alınması ve bunun sonucunda Pergamon Krallığı toprakları üzerinde Roma'nın Küçük Asya'daki ilk eyaleti“Asya Eyaleti”ni kurması ve bu topraklarda Roma'nın kesin olarak yerleşmesi irdelenmiştir.

This thesis study reviews King of Pergamon Attalos III who bequeathed his kingdom and his personal wealth to the Republic of Rome in 133 B.C. and the resulting long lasting insurrection his stepbrother Aristonicus (Eumenes III) started against the Roman Republic and their allies in Asia Minor when he contested his brother's legacy and laid claim to the throne. This study consists of four sections. In the first section, the foundation and development of Pergamon Kingdom and Attalid Kingdom's relationships with the other cities and states until the time of Aristonicus insurrection is explained. In the second section, the reign of the King of Pergamon Attalos III, his bequeathing of his kingdom and personal wealth to the Republic of Rome and the reaction of the Roman Republic to his legacy is explained. In the third section, the character and royal court connections of Aristonicus (Eumenes III), the son of Pergamon King Eumenes II, is reviewed and the resulting events of his stepbrother Attalos III's legacy, the Roman Empire inheriting the kingdom instead of him and after that the insurrection Aristonicus started to claim the throne is explained in detail. In the fourth and final section, the suppression of the long lasting insurrection started by Aristonicus by the Roman Republic and it's allies and capturing of Aristonicus is explained and the end result of these events, the establishment of Rome's first province in Asia Minor on the lands of Pergamon Kingdom, the“Province Asia”, and the final settlement of Rome on these lands is examined.
