Prof. Emel BAYHAN The aim of of this study is to investigate the sedimentology and determine the internal features of the condansated sequence in the Beyşehir-Hoyran nappe, central Taurus. The condansate sequence which is exposed around Üzümlü-Huğlu, about 30 km SW of Beyşehir, is one of the best examples of these kind of occurrences in the Beyşehir-Hoyran nappes of Tauride region and whose typical section is located in the Boyalı Hill. This pelagic sequence of about 25-30 m thick sets on the platform type limestones and shows a continuous sedimentation between Early Jurassic and Late Cretaceous. This condansate sequence formed by a minumum sedimentation in a wide time interval, is composed of four layers from bottom to top: 1- Ammonitte marls with red nodules (Jurassic: the total thickness is 7-9 m); 2- Radiolarites (2-3 m); 3- White, reddish, and multi-colored, Calpionella and Globigerina sp. bearing limestones (Lower Cretaceous: the total thickness iş 1-2 m); and 4- Reddish colored, silica banded or noduled, Globotruncana sp. limestones (Lower Cretaceous: the total thickness is 15-17 m). The condansate character of this pelagic sequence described above, has been determined by criteria given below.IV a- Repetetive deep sea erosional surfaces or hardgrounds. These erosional surfaces are characterized by iron microcrusts and dense filament accumulations particularly in Jurassic samples (Probable Bositra sp. is determined from the pelagic lamelli branches) b- Deep sea fractures and filling of them with internal sediments. c- The abundance of nanno-organisms in the pelagic matrix. d- The activities of deep sea and micro-endolithic organisms. Especially, active carving micro-endolithic organisms. e- Hardness, compression, and stilolite due to early diagenesis.
