Özet
Bu çalışmada, 6.sınıf öğrencilerinin Fiziksel ve Kimyasal Değişimler konusundaki zihinsel modellerinin ve bilişsel yapılarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Öğrencilerin Fiziksel ve Kimyasal Değişimler konusundaki zihinsel modellerini belirlemek amacıyla 5 soruluk açık uçlu bir test geliştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın örneklemini Kütahya ili Domaniç ilçesinde yer alan 8 ortaokulda öğrenim gören 148 6. Sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Öğrencilerin testte verdikleri cevaplar ile fiziksel ve kimyasal değişimler konusuyla ilgili zihinsel modelleri ve kavram yanılgıları tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca 28 öğrenci ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Öğrencilerin konu ile ilgili bilişsel yapılarını belirlemek için bir kelime ilişkilendirme testi (KİT) hazırlanmıştır. Çalışmada, öğrencilerin fiziksel değişim ile ilgili tanecik hareket modeli, uzaklaşan tanecik modeli, tanecik hareket modeli+uzaklaşan tanecik modeli, makro model olmak üzere, kimyasal değişim ile ilgili değişen tanecik modeli, makro model, uzaklaşan tanecik modeli, makro-mikro değişim modeli olmak üzere toplam 8 modele sahip oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca fiziksel ve kimyasal değişimlerle ilgili 24 adet kavram yanılgısına rastlanmıştır. KİT sonuçları incelendiğinde, öğrencilerin madde ve tanecik anahtar kavramına en çok katı, sıvı ve gaz cevap kavramlarını yazdıkları ve taneciklerin hallerinin bulunduğunu düşündükleri anlaşılmıştır. Ayrıca, öğrencilerin fiziksel değişimi, yanma, çürüme, küflenme, kimyasal değişimi de erime ile yanlış bir şekilde ilişkilendirdikleri belirlenmiştir.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the mental models of the 6th grade students about the subject of Physical and Chemical Changes. An open ended test with 5 questions was developed so as to determine the mental models of the students about the subject of Physical and Chemical Changes. The sampling of the study is constituted by the 148 6th grade students who are studying at 8 secondary schools in Kütahya province Domaniç district. The answers which were given by the students in the test were analysed to determine their mental models and misconceptions about the physical and chemical changes. Semi-structured interviews with 28 students were conducted. In order to determine cognitive structures of the students, a word association test (WAT) was prepared. In the study, it is observed that the students have 8 different models as changing particle model, the macro model, the diverging particle model, the macro-micro change model related to the chemical change, the particle motion model, the diverging particle model, the particle motion model + the diverging particle model, macro-micro change model related to physical change. There were also 24 misconceptions about the physical and chemical changes. When the results of the WAT were examined, it was observed that the students mostly wrote the response concepts of solid, liquid and gas to the key concepts of matter and particle and thinks that there are states of particles. Moreover, it was determined that students mistakenly associated physical change with burning, decay and mold, and chemical change with melting.
