Özet
İnsanlığın var oluşuyla beraber temelleri atılan sosyal bilgiler, değişmeyenin değişim olduğu günümüzde yeni karmaşık sorunlarla beraber iyice önem kazanmış, bu da sosyal bilgiler disiplininin öğrencilere kazandırdığı değerler ile bunlara ilişkin tutum ve davranışların önemini artırmıştır. Bilgi ve teknolojideki baş döndürücü ilerlemeler, küresel bilgi birikimini artırırken bu bilginin insanlara nasıl aktarılacağı sorusu daha fazla önem kazanmıştır. Bütün bunlar farklı öğretim modellerinin uygulanmasını kaçınılmaz hale getirmiştir. Sosyal bilgiler öğretiminde başta kavram öğretimi olmak üzere kullanılması gereken alternatif öğrenme tekniklerinden biri de kavram bulmacaları modelidir. Gerçek deneme modelinde öntest-sontest kontrol gruplu desende (ÖSKD) gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmada, ilköğretim Sosyal Bilgiler 6. Sınıf“Demokrasinin Serüveni”ünitesinin“Kavram Bulmacası”etkinlikleri yoluyla öğretiminin akademik başarı üzerindeki etkisi araştırılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2016-2017 öğretim yılının bahar döneminde Adana il merkezinde bulunan bir devlet ortaokuluna devam eden 6. Sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmuştur. Çalışma, bir deney ve bir kontrol grubundan oluşan toplam 52 altıncı sınıf öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma toplam 15 ders saati sürmüştür. Deney grubunda öğretim, kavram bulmacası etkinliklerine dayalı olarak yapılırken, kontrol grubunda ise programa dayalı öğretim gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğrencilere program öncesinde ve sonrasında başarı testi öntest-sontest olarak uygulanmış ve verilerin analizi için t-testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) ve ITEMAN (Item and Test Analysis program) programları ile analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analizlerden elde edilen sonuçlar incelendiğinde programa dayalı öğretim ile kavram bulmacalarına dayalı öğretim etkinlikleriyle yapılan öğretimin 6.sınıf“Demokrasinin Serüveni ”ünitesinde başarıyı arttırdığı söylenebilir. Ancak deney grubuna uygulanan kavram bulmacaları destekli öğretimdeki başarı artışının (deney grubu öntest-sontest ortalama farkı = 17,117) sadece programa dayalı yapılan öğretimden (kontrol grubu öntest-sontest ortalama farkı =7,97) daha fazla olduğu görülmektedir. Bu sonuç bize kavram bulmacalarına dayalı öğretim etkinlikleriyle yapılan öğretimin programa dayalı öğretime göre daha etkili olduğunu göstermektedir.

ABSTRACT Social studies,whose foundation was laid together with the existence of humanity, has gained importance with the complex problems of today on which what doesn't change is the change itself and this has increased the values imparted to the students through the discipline of social sciences and the importance of attitudes and behaviours related with them. Dizzying advances in technology and information while increasing the global knowledge , the question of how to transfer this knowledge to the people has become more important. All these have made the implementation of different instructional models inevitable. One of the alternative models in teaching social studies which should be used in teaching the concept is primarily the concept model of the puzzles. In this study performed in a model of a real experimental pre-test and post-test pattern with a control group (ÖSKD) elementary grade 6 Social Studies, the impact on the academic achievement of teaching the unit of' Adventure of Democracy ' via the concept of puzzle has been investigated. The research study group was made up of sixth grade students who attend a state secondary school located in the center of Adana Province in the spring semester of the academic year 2016-2017. The study has been conducted with a total of fifty two sixth grade students comprising one experimental and one control group.The study has lasted fifteen hours.While the teaching based on the concept of puzzle activities in the experimental group has been carried out, the teaching based on the programme has been implemented in the control group. The students, before and after the programme, have been applied pre-test and post-test as an achievement test and t-test has been applied fot the analysis of the data.The data obtained from the research have been analyzed with the programme SPSS (STATISTIC PACKAGE FOR THE SOCIAL SCIENCES) and ITEMAN (ITEM AND TEST ANALYSIS PROGRAMME). When the results obtained from the analysıs are examined , it can be said that the teaching based on the programme and the teaching carried out through the concept of puzzle activities have increased the succes in the unit of ' The Adventure Of The Democracy' of the sixth grade. However, the increase of success in education assisted with the concept of puzzles applied to the experimental group seems to be higher than that of the teaching based on the programme.This result shows us that the instruction supported with the concepts of puzzles is more effective compared to the instruction based on the programme.
