Özet
Bu araştırma engelli çocuk annelerinin sosyal destek ve depresif semptomlar açısından incelenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Nevşehir il merkezinde İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğüne bağlı dört özel eğitim ve rehabilitasyon merkezine kayıtlı 0-18 yaş grubu engelli çocuğu olan 600 anne, örneklemi ise tabakalı örnekleme yöntemiyle bu evrenden seçilen dört özel eğitim merkezinde eğitim gören 150 engelli çocuk annesi oluşturmuştur. Araştırma kapsamındaki engelli çocuğa sahip annelerin sosyal destek düzeyleri ve depresif semptomların incelenmesi amacıyla Zimet (1998) tarafından geliştirilen Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği, Beck ve ark. (1961) tarafından geliştirilen Beck Depresyon Ölçeği ve tanıtıcı bilgileri içeren Kişisel Bilgi Formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin istatistiksel değerlendirilmesinde t testi, varyans analizi, Kruskal Wallis testi, Mann Whitney U testi, Tukey testi ve korelasyon kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre engelli çocuk annelerinin Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması 58.38±21.28 olup orta düzeyde bulunmuştur. Araştırma kapsamına alınan annelerden; üniversite mezunlarında, çalışanlarda, ruhsal rahatsızlığı olmayanlarda, tek çocuklularda, çekirdek ailede yaşayanlarda, geliri giderden fazla olanlarda, engelli çocukları erkek olanlarda Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği puan ortalamaları yüksek bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Engelli çocuk annelerinin Beck Depresyon Ölçeği puan ortalaması ise 12.61±9.87 olup puan ortalamaların okuryazar olan ve olmayanlarda, çalışmayanlarda, ruhsal rahatsızlığı olanlarda, geniş ailede yaşayanlarda, geliri giderden az olanlarda, engelli çocuğu kız olanlarda yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0.05). Annelerin tamamının depresif semptomlar açısından risk taşıdıkları saptanmıştır. Sosyal destek ile depresyon arasında negatif yönde orta düzeyde bir ilişki bulunmuştur (r:-0.574).

This research is conducted as a descriptive study with the aim of investigation of mothers of children with disabilities in terms of social support and depressive symptoms. The population of the research is comprised of 600 mothers of children with disabilities aged between 0-18, who are registered to 4 special education and rehabilitation centers governed by the Ministry of Education, in Nevşehir and the sampling is comprised of 150 mothers of children with disabilities, who are chosen by the stratified sampling method and receiving training at 4 special education centers of this population. For the purpose of examining social support levels and depressive symptoms of mothers of children with disabilities in the study, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, developed by Zimet (1998), Beck Depression Inventory, developed by Beck et. al. (1961) and Personal Data Forms that comprises introductory information are used. T-test, analysis of variance, Kruskal–Wallis test, Mann–Whitney U test, Tukey test and correlation are employed in the statistical analysis of data. According to the findings, the average score of mothers of children with disabilities in Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support is 58.36±21.28 scale average score was found to be moderate. It is found that, among the mothers in the study, mothers that are university graduates, employees, without mental disorders, living in core families, with only one child, with an excess of income over expenditure, with children with disabilities that are boys had high average scores in Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (p<0.05). It is determined that the average score of mothers of children with disabilities in Beck Depression Inventory is 12.61±9.87, and that the average scores are high for the mothers that are literate, illiterate, unemployed, in mental disorders, living in large families, with less income over expenditure and with children with disabilities that are girls (p<0.05). All of the mothers were found to be at risk for depressive symptoms. A meaningful negative correlation has been found between social support and depression. (r:-0.574).
