Özet

SUMMARY 151 In this work, in order to reduce weight loss and decay and weight loss under optimum conditions, different postharvest treatments were applied on efficacy of these treatment on fruit quality during storage were investigated. In the first experimental year below listed treatments were applied to W. Navel, Valencia Late Oranges Rio Red Grapefruit and Minneola Tangelo and stored for 5 months; a ) Control, b ) Semperfresh (%1.S), c ) Wax, d ) Wax + İmazalil (2000 ppm), e ) Gustec (%15) f ) Gustec (%15)+Imazalil g ) Wax+Ascurit (%0.5)+TBZ (500ppm) h ) Gustec (%15)+Ascurit (%0.5)+TBZ (5000 ppm). In the second experimental year Satsuma and Clemantine Mandarins were treated with; a ) Water+Ascurit (%0.5)+TBZ (5000ppm), b ) Wax + Ascurit (%0.5) c ) Wax +Ascurit (%0.5) +TBZ (5000ppm) d ) Gustec (%15)+Ascurit (%0.5) e ) Gustec (%15)+Ascurit (%0.5)+TBZ (%5000ppm), and stored for 60 days. During certain intervals fruit samples were taken from cold stores and analyzed for weight loss(%), fruit juice content(%), total soluble solids content(%), fruit juice pH, titratable acidity(%), ethanol and acetaldehyde contents (mg/100ml). Physiological and fungal disorders were also recorded. Weight losses which occur during cold storage influence the storage time and quality. Because of low respiration rate in storage temperatures, all the weight loss could be considered as water loss. From this stand point, in order to prolong the storage life of some citrus species and varieties, different surface coating were used. Among the surface coating tested, highest weight loss were determined in Gustec followed by Semperfresh treated fruits. Commercial surface coating wax were more efficient in reducing the weight loss. Fruit juice content of different citrus fruits decreased in comparison to the time of harvest as the storage period prolongs. Nevertheless this decrease were not observed sensoraly. Titratable acidity has decreased according to the storage time and treatments tested. However, acidity was found higher in Gustec treatment alone or in combination with different fungicides in comparison to Semperfresh or wax treated fruits. Fruits juice pH have increased contrary to decrease in titratable acidity. Total soluble solids content have not changed much in different treatments.SUMMARY 152 An important criteria which was a proof of our success in storage trials was the decay rate which didn't exceed 10%. In order to reduce decay different fungicides were tested in combination with surface coatings. Imazalil in combination with coatings were not found very effective in reducing decay. Contrary Ascurit ( prochloraz) was found very effective in reducing spoilage. Ascurit treatment was effective as Ascurit+TBZ in reducing decay. Fruits continue to respire even after the harvest surface coating which is used to decrease respiration and acetaldehyde content. This has caused a reduction in the eating quality. Surface coating have positively effected the rate of green buttoned fruits. Gustec alone or in combination with fungicides were found better than other surface coatings. Surface coating were not effective in reducing physiological disorders. In Clemantine mandarins, Water+ Ascurit+TBZ resulted in less physiological disorders than with surface coatings. As a result among the surface coatings, wax were found more effective than Gustec in reducing weight loss. Among the fungicides tested Ascurit resulted better in reducing decay.SUMMARY 151 In this work, in order to reduce weight loss and decay and weight loss under optimum conditions, different postharvest treatments were applied on efficacy of these treatment on fruit quality during storage were investigated.
