Özet
Ayırt edici mimarideki zor denklem, tasarım sürecinde optimum güzellik ve başarılı fonksiyonlar aracılığıyla yaratıcılığı elde edebilmektir. Mimar, mimari tasarım sürecinde ideal seviyedearatıcılığa ulaşmak için kendisini kullanıcının yerine koyarak onun tercihlerini ve mekanlar için ona uygun seçenekleri anlamaya çalışmalıdır. Yüksek Lisans Tezi çalışmam boyunca bana eleştirel bakış açısı, akademik duyarlılığı ve cesaretlendiren tavrı ile rehberlik eden danışmanım Doç. Dr. Emine Köseoğlu'ya derin ve içten minnettarlığımı sunarım. İstatistik uzmanı Dr. Ömer Bilen'e ve İngilizceden Türkçeye tercüme yardımı için Ayşe Emengen'e özel teşekkürlerimi sunarım. Architectural concepts for the interior designing process integrated with user preferences' requirements across culture enrich design process and lead it to the optimum design level. In this context, users' privacy concepts across culture as a very important and complicated term have to be a critical issue in the design process for interior spaces. Specifically, the multinational interior spaces such as a café which may be a destination for a lot of different people from various nationalities and cultures. Actually, privacy concept across culture may affect the user's preferences in interior space as a café which in specific are examined in this thesis. Thesis content starts with the introduction chapter through the literature department to explore culture definitions and what is the relationship between culture and environment. Then illustrating proxemics' meaning and definitions through how it affects people behaviors. Furthermore, transmission between Privacy concepts and recognition Altman's Privacy Regulation mechanisms. Then, it explores Space conception, the meaning of personal space and social space and cafes. In the last part, the multinational questionnaire is conducted to check whether the privacy concept influences on the user preferences from four different nationalities in interior space such as a cafe. The results of the questionnaire revealed that respondents' choices differed according to the concept of privacy across culture. For example, some did not mind sitting in the middle of cafes or close to the entrances and stairs or next to the glass partitions or sitting next to strangers, which was rejected by other nationalities.In the last part of the questionnaire, the respondents' choices differed according to the concept of privacy and the arriving status to the cafe either alone or with his wife, family or friends. Additionally, results showed that“Privacy concept”is the most frequent and effective choice incase of being with family, with husband or wife and with girlfriend or boyfriend. Furthermore, the“Quietness”choice is more effective when respondent coming alone. Choices“socialness, comfortable seating”and“furniture style”are effective when respondents are friends (same sex or mixed group).
