Özet (Çeviri)
SUMMARY“Translyvania carpets”which share same etmylogical features with Polish carpets, appear with its particular colour and pattern combinations between 16 '-18 ' centuires. These carpets arc usually found in the protestan churches of Transylvania and private collections in Germany and Poland. As because majority of those are found in Translyvania, they are named“Translyvania Carpets”since 1930. In the beginning, it was considered that these carpets were made around Translyvania or European countries. But, it is understood that they are made in W.Anatolia after technical analyses were done. Firstly,“white ground with bird patterned carpets”were found, but;“double niche carpets”,“Ladik”type carpet can be seen in later periods. But, we would like to emphasize that these are special carpets with double niche pattern in particular size (120x180 cm). Translyvania located in a very big platou which is framed with Karpat mountains in Romania. Translyvania, semantically means“the place after forest land”. It is stiuated in commercial crossways between Asia and Europe. That is why, many groups from Asia and Caucaus, migrated to this region since 101' century. i Ottomans controlled the area from 15' century to 19' century through voivadas. The carpet trade was very profitable in 16 century. Carpets were usually brought to Europe to be sold in Balkans through Venetian merchants. 195Sizes, prices, colors of these carpets were mentioned in inventories and archives. The carpets were used for different purposes. Some of them were put on altar, pupils, or were hang on the wall, or used in home decoration, sometimes they are given as a very precious present. According the some inventories of very noble people, these carpets were ordered specially in terms of customers' requirements and taste. The immigrants who came from Turkey between 1815 and 1915, settled down Dobruja, and established modern carpet production in Braija, Bükreş, Cluj, Fagaraş, Galati. Consequently, the carpets which are named '“Translyvania”, was produced in W.Anatolia between 16n-I8" centuries, but modern carpet production began in Romania in 1951. 196
