Özet
Bu çalışmada Kayseri ili İncesu İlçe Merkezi özelinde coğrafya öğretiminde öğrenci ve öğretmen bazında karşılaşılan sorunlarının temel nedenlerini belirleyerek, tespiti yapılan sorunlara çözüm önerileri getirmek amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem olarak nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden olan betimsel tarama modeli uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın yapılacağı evrende örneklem alanı belirlendikten sonra buradan elde edilen bulguların SPSS değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır. SPSS değerlendirmesinde mevcut verilerin frekans ve yüzdelik değerlerine göre sütun grafikleri oluşturularak çıkan sonuçlara göre ilçedeki coğrafya öğretiminde karşılaşılan temel sorunlar belirlenmiştir. Yapılan çalışma sonucunda eldeki mevcut verilere göre ortaöğretim kurumlarında coğrafya dersinde kullanılan ders araç ve gereçlerinin kullanımında karşılaşılan sorunlar, öğretmen ve ders kaynaklarının yetersizliği, yeni coğrafya ders müfredatında görülen problemler, öğrencilerin coğrafya dersine karşı ilgileri ve ailelilerinin maddi imkânsızlıklarının coğrafya öğretimine etkisi gibi hususların tespiti yapılmıştır. Ortaöğretim kurumlarındaki coğrafya öğretiminde ders müfredat programlarının öğrencinin ilgi ve öğrenme isteğine uygun olarak hazırlanması, coğrafya öğretiminin sınav endeksli olmaması, okullardaki coğrafya dersinde araç-gereç kullanımında görülen sorunlar ve öğrencilerin coğrafya bilimine bakışındaki olumsuzlukların giderilmesi amacı ile gerekli tedbirler alınmalıdır. Ayrıca coğrafya dersi ile ilgili olarak okul ve dersliklerdeki fiziki yetersizliklerin düzeltilmesi, öğretmen yeterliliklerinin geliştirilmesi amacı ile ilgili kurumlarca çalışmalar yapılmalıdır.

In this study, it was intended to offer solutions to problems which were detected by identifying main reasons of problems encountered in geography teaching on the basis of students and teachers in central district İncesu of Kayseri Provience. Descriptive survey model which is one of quantitative research methods was applied. After sample field was determined in universe of research, the data found went through SPSS evaluation. Via SPSS evaluation, main problems faced in the district in terms of geograpgy teaching were determined according to the results obtained from column graphics which were formed in line with frequency and percent values of the existing data. Survey was implemented in 5 out of 7 high schools in the center of İncesu. During school selection procedure schools having different programs were taken into sample group and the schools having larger amounts of students were preferred among the ones applying the same program. One from each class existing in the universe, consisting of 5 geography teachers anda 1110 students was selected as a sample and questionairres were applied on mentioned 5 teachers and coincidentally chosen 165 students. As a result of the survey held, problems faced during the use of materials and equipments used in high schools, problems caused by insufficient number of teachers and sources, and problems seen in curriculum of ceography courses according to the obtained data, attitude of students towards geography and affects of socioeconomic status of the parents on the process of geography teaching were determined.Necessary precautions should be taken about the elimination of negative attitudes of students against science of geography by means of preparing curriculums in harmony with students' interest and demands, relieving geography teaching from being an exam based course and overcoming problems faced related to the use of necessary materials and equipment. And necessary studies should be carried out in terms of revising physical inadequacies in geography classrooms, improving teacher qualifications by the related instutions.
