Özet

Bu çalışmada, Science(Fen), Technology(Teknoloji), Engineering(Mühendislik) ve Mathematics(Matematik) uygulamalarının Fen Bilimleri dersi“Vücudumuzdaki Sistemler”ünitesi“Destek ve Hareket ”konusunda öğrencilerin akademik başarıları üzerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Araştırma 2018-2019 öğretim yılında Konya il merkezindeki Selçuklu ilçesinde bir devlet ortaokulunda yapılmıştır. Çalışma grubu 20 deney 20 kontrol grubu olmak üzere 40 öğrenciden oluşmuştur. Araştırmada yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırma ön test, son test ve hatırlama testi olmak üzere üç aşamada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Vücudumuzdaki Sistemler' ünitesi 'Destek ve Hareket' konusu araştırmanın deney grubuna fen bilimleri dersi öğretim programına uygun olarak hazırlanan 5 E Modelli STEM eğitimi uygulamaları ile; kontrol grubuna ise geleneksel öğretim yöntemi ile 5 hafta süresince konu işlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin başarı düzeylerinin belirlenmesinde veri toplama aracı olarak güvenirlik katsayısı 0.89 olan ve 30 sorudan oluşan“Vücudumuzdaki Sistemler Başarı Testi ”kullanılmıştır. Veriler, SPSS 10.00 istatistik paket programı aracılığıyla analiz edilmiştir. Anlamlılık düzeyi 0.05 kabul edilmiştir. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının ön test, son test ve hatırlama testlerinden aldıkları puanların, gruplar arası ve her bir grubun kendi içinde farklılaşma düzeylerini incelemek amacıyla dokuz hipotez geliştirilmiş ve bu hipotezler istatiksel yöntemlerle test edilmiştir. Hipotezlerin test edilmesi aşamasında bağımsız örneklem t-testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda 5 E Modelli STEM eğitimi uygulamaları ile işlenen fen bilimleri konularında öğrencilerin akademik başarılarının daha yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Vücudumuzdaki Sistemler Ünitesindeki“Destek ve Hareket”konusu ile yapılan 5 E Modelli STEM Eğitimi uygulamalarında, deney grubu öğrencilerinin son test ve hatırlama testi puanlarında kontrol grubu öğrencilerine göre anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. 5 E Modelli STEM eğitimi uygulamaları akademik başarıları arttırmada ve öğrencilerin kalıcılığını sağlamada etkili olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The study aims to investigate the effects of science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) applications on academic achievement of students in science lessons. The research was conducted with success tests performed in three stages as pre-test, post-test and recall test. STEM training practices prepared in accordance with the teaching plan of the research experimental group; In the control group, traditional teaching method was applied. The universe of the study consists of secondary school students studying in the district of Selçuklu, Konya. The sample of the study was 40 students attending 6th grade at Şecondary School. In the Secondary School, the sixth grade students randomly were divided into two groups; as an experimental and control group. STEM training applications prepared in accordance with the Science Education Program, which is supported and acted on by the systems unit in our bodies, are applied to the experimental group students; The control group was taught the traditional method for 5 weeks. The systems unit in our bodies achievement test was applied to determine the success level of the students which consists of 30 questions and the reliability coefficient is 0.89. The data were analyzed by SPSS 10.00 statistical package program. Nine hypotheses were developed in order to examine the differentiation levels of the experimental and control groups from the pre-test, post-test and recall tests, between the groups and within each group, and these hypotheses were tested with statistical methods. Independent sample t-test was used to test hypotheses. As a result of the research, it was observed that the students' academic achievement was high in the science course were conducted by STEM education applications. The systems in our body unit are made with the support and movement subject in STEM training applications, it was seen that there was a significant difference between the last test and retention test scores of the experimental group students compared to the control group students. It has been found that STEM education practices are effective in increasing academic achievement and ensuring the permanence of students.
