Özet

Bu çalışmada lise öğrencilerinin biyolojik kavramlar ile ilgili metaforik algıları incelenmiştir. Bu sayede kavramlar ile ilgili doğru algılar oluşup oluşmadığına bakılmıştır. Çalışmaya Ankara Yenimahalle ilçesinde, bir Anadolu Lisesinde öğrenim gören 70 lise öğrencisi katılmıştır. Çalışmada metaforik algıları ortaya çıkarmak için nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgubilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Verileri toplamak için oluşturulan veri toplama formunda“ Biyoloji ………. gibidir. Çünkü ………. .”kalıbı kullanılmış, diğer 9 kavram için de aynı kalıp uygulanmıştır. Öğrencilerin verilen kavramı, benzettikleri şeyi birinci cümledeki boşluğa, neden bu benzetmeyi yaptıkları ile ilgili açıklamayı da ikinci boşluğa yazmaları istenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler kodlama, ayıklama, kategori oluşturma, geçerlik ve güvenirlik, düzenleme ve analiz işlemlerine tabi tutulmuştur. Öğrencilerin 10 kavrama ilişkin 256 farklı metafor ürettikleri gözlenmiştir. Bu metaforlar 50 kategori başlığı altında toplanmıştır. Sonuç olarak öğrencilerin kavramların yapısal ve işlevsel özellikleri hakkında bilgi sahibi oldukları gözlenmiş, metaforların eğitim alanında kullanılması gereken araçlar olduğu bu çalışma ile bir kez daha ortaya konmuştur.

In this study, the perception of high school students related to the concepts in biology was analyzed. Thus, it is studied as concepts appear to make he right perceptions or not. Seventy high school students from Ankara, Yenimahalle province participated in this study. In order to find out the metaphoric perceptions, a qualitative method of research called phenomenology was used. In the data collection form,“Biology is like…………. . Because ………… .”sentence patterns are used and so for the other nine concepts. The students are asked to write in the first spaces; the metaphors for the concepts given and then, the reason indicating the explanations for drawing a metaphor in the second spaces. The data obtained are operationalised as decoding, elimination, categorization, validity, reliability, organization and analysis. Through the study, it is indicated that the students prodeced 256 different metaphors refering to 10 concepts. These metaphors are gathered below 50 titles of categoies. As a result, the students are observed to have been acquanted with the knowledge of the structural and the functional properties abaout these concepts. In the connection with this study, it is revealed once again that the use of metaphors is one of the necessary tools in the field of education.
