Özet
Roman, tür itibariyle içinde bulunulan dönemin siyaset, cemiyet ve sanat hayatının izdüşümlerini farklı görünümlerle bünyesinde barındırır. Türk toplumunun yakın tarihte yaşadığı değişim ve dönüşüm sancıları, türün edebiyatımızdaki serüveniyle eş zamanlı olarak ilerler. Tanzimat, yüzü Batı'ya dönük bir hayat tasavvuru noktasında önemli bir eşik iken, yansımaları günümüzde de hissedilen Doğu-Batı ikilemini beraberinde getirir. Bu ikilik Tanzimat romanında öne sürülen tezlerde, ideal kahraman ve karşıt güçlerde ifade bulur. Ardından yaşanan süreçte siyasi ve toplumsal gelişmeler, romancıları sosyal meselelerden uzaklaştırırken diğer taraftan bakışların da tamamen Batı'ya çevrildiği görülür. Bunu izleyen Milli Mücadele dönemi ve asırların omuzlarında şaşaalı bir medeniyet ile hükümferma Osmanlı'nın hitam bulması, yeni filizlenen Cumhuriyet'in heyecanı, Türk romanının tematik seyrini belirleyen olaylardır. Bu bağlamda Tanzimat'tan Cumhuriyet'e kadar yaşanan çok boyutlu değişimlerin tespitinde, kilit bir nokta olarak kadın kimliğinden bahsetmek zaruridir. Yeni bir medeniyet dairesine dâhil olma ve Batılılaşma yolculuğu, geleneksel ve kültürel çözülmeler, zihnî kırılma noktaları, yeni ideal ve normlar, kadın kimliği üzerinden okunup değerlendirilebilir. İlk yerli romandan itibaren parmaklıklar ardından mahcubiyetle dışarıyı izleyen, ürkek Fitnat'tan, evliliğini cinsî ve narsist ihtiraslarına kurban eden Bihter'e ve eşinde estetize edilmiş duygular arayan Suat'a, İstanbul'un işgalinde Milli Mücadele'nin sembol ismi olan Ayşe'den, Dame de Sion'lu Feride'nin kalp kırıklığıyla atıldığı Anadolu'daki öğretmenlik macerasına ve İstanbul'un dar sokaklarından birinde yetişip mütevazı bir hayat sürerken Batılı bir piyanist ile evlenen Hafız Rabia'nın kültür ve medeniyet bağlamında bir sentezi imleyen hikâyesine kadar birçok farklı sima, toplumsal hayattaki safhalara ve modernleşme sürecine kurgusal dünyanın imkânları nispetinde şahitlik eder. Çalışmamız, bireysel ve toplumsal zeminde genel dizgeler üzerinden ayrıntılandırılmış; amacı gereği Sinekli Bakkal'a (1936) kadar yayınlanan romanlarla sınırlandırılmış ve kadın kimliğini doğrudan temsil eden eserler seçilme gayreti gösterilmiştir.

As a genre, novels embody the projections of the politics, community and art in the period they have been written. The change and transformation struggle of the Turkish society in the recent history proceed simultaneously with the adventure of the novels in the Turkish literature. When the Tanzimat (Political Reforms in 1839) was an important verge on the Western-style realization of the existence, it also brought East-West contradiction, which can be still sensed even today, along with itself. The aforementioned contradiction finds its expression in the ideal character and opposing forces in the suggested arguments. Then the political and social developments of the relevant period distracted the novelists from the social issues, and it can be observed that they showed tendency to apply Western-style. Afterwards; the independence war and ending of the Ottoman which has been ruling the region for centuries and with a magnificent civilization, the enthusiasm of the newly-founded Republic are the events which determined the thematic progress of the Turkish novels. In this connection, for the determination of the multi-dimensional changes from Tanzimat to the Republic Era, it is necessary to mention the concept of“women”as a key point. Involvement to a new civilization concept and Westernization journey, traditional and cultural resolutions, mental breaking points, new ideals and norms can be observed and evaluated from the identity of women. From the nervous Fitnat who watches the outside behind the fences in the first Turkish novel to Bihter who sacrifices her marriage on her own sexual and narcissist ambitions and to Suat who seeks aestheticized feelings in her husband, from Ayşe who is a symbol name of the Independence War during the Occupation of İstanbul to the teaching adventure of Feride from Dame de Sion in Anatolia with a heartbreak and to the story which implies the synthesis of culture and civilization of Hafız Rabia who grew up in the alleys of İstanbul and while living a modest life, suddenly got married with a Western pianist, lots of different figures witness the stages of the social life and modernization process based on their own fictional world opportunities. This study was detailed through general system on the individual and social bases; was restricted with the novels published to Sinekli Bakkal (1936) in accordance with its aim and it was tried to select the novels representing the identity of women directly.
