Özet
Bu çalışmada Ernst Cassirer'in Sembolik Formlar Felsefesi temelinde ortaya konulan sembol üreten canlı (animal symbolicum) olarak insan tanımı etrafında, insan-sembol ilişkisi üzerinde durulacak ve bu ilişki bir sembolizm biçimi olan mit üzerinden tartışılacaktır. Problem alanımızı modern öznenin kendinde ve Varlık'ta bulduğu parçalanmışlığın neticesi olan anlam problemi, bu problemin aşılması ve anlam probleminin çözümü için sembolün ve mitin işlevi oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmamızda Cassirer'in Sembolik Formlar Felsefesi'nin Batı Düşüncesi'ndeki sembol ve mit araştırmaları içinde yerini belirlemeye çalışacak, Sembolik Formlar Felsefesi'nin Mitik Düşünme ayağı üzerinde duracak ve Mitik Düşünüş tarzının Varlık'ta ve insanda gördüğümüz parçalanmışlığı aşma ihtimalini, göreli alanda kalarak anlamlar tablosu üreten ve mutlak olana referans yapmayan bir felsefi çabanın anlama erişme imkânı olup olmadığını tartışacağız. Amacımız modern öznenin anlam problemini Ben'in ve Varlığın anlamı soruları üzerinden tartışmak, sembol ve mitin bu problemi çözme imkânını ele almak ve modernitenin ikonoklast tutumu ile ihmal ettiği sembol ve mitlerin insanın bütünsel varlığında dengeleyici işlevini ve önemini değerlendirmektir. Bu konuda da Cassirer'in yöntemini-yaklaşımını cevaplardan biri olarak değerlendirecek, Cassirer'in anlam probleminde bizce eksik bıraktığı noktayı Gelenekselci Ekol'ün mutlaka referans yapan düşünce sistemiyle tamamlamaya çalışacak, göreli çoklu anlamlardan, mutlak anlama geçme imkânını ve mitin bu imkân içinde nerede durduğunu tartışmaya açacağız.

In this study human, symbol and myth relation will be investigated based on the philosophy of Ernst Cassirer's Philosophy of Symbolic Forms and according to the definition of human being as a symbol generating being (animal symbolicum). Main problem of the this thesis is the meaning problem of modern subject which is found in the fragmentation of the Self and the Being and the function of symbol and myth in solving this problem. In this research we will deal with Cassirer's Philosophy of Symbolic Forms and try to locate Cassirer's symbolism among all other types of symbolism and myth researches in Western Thought and we will investigate the mythical thought of Cassirer's Symbolic Forms and question that could mythical thought be successful in conquer to unify the fragmentar parts of modern Self and modern concept of Being to solve the meaning problem of modern subject. We will also question Cassirer's concept of Self and Being as relative concepts and whether could this relativity provides us a solid foundation to meaning problem. Our purpose is to debate meaning problem of modern subject around questioning the meaning of Self and the meaning of Being and try to consider the symbol and the myth as problem solving tools and to conquer the iconoclast behaviour of modernity by returning the importance of symbol and myth. In this aspect we will consider Cassirer's method one of the possible answers to meaning problem and try to complete this aspect with the essential and foundational aspect of symbolism by Traditionalist School's understanding of symbol. With this Traditionalist aspect of symbol we will try to shift the relativity and subjectivity to a absoluteness and objectivity and discuss whether or not myth could be a tool to absoluteness.
