Özet

Mimarlık, veri edinme ve bu veriyi işleyip kullanabilme bağlamında diğer disiplinlerin bakış açılarına ve biçimlerine ihtiyaç duymaktadır. Mimarlık ve sinemanın varoluşsal iki temel unsuru olan 'zaman ve mekân' kavramları düşünüldüğünde; disiplinler arası ilişki mimarlık ve sinema için etkileşimden de ötededir. Sinemayı mekânsal kılan, şehir ve kentleri farklı biçimlerle görselleştirme imkânına sahip olmasıdır. Yeni çağ içerisinde teknolojinin hızlı gelişimi yeni anlatıları beraberinde getirmiştir. Bunlardan en önemlisi, mimarlıkta mekânın temsilinin değişmesidir. Teknolojinin gelişimi ve sağladığı imkânların bir sonucu olarak imaj üretimi artmıştır. Gelecek öngörülerinin birer distopyayı çağrıştırması ve kapitalizmin gücünün teknoloji ile beraber günümüzü gelecek distopyalarına doğru bir serüvene sürüklemesi, mekân üretimlerinin filmler üzerinden değerlendirilmesine bu tez kapsamında bir amaç oluşturmuştur. İzleme alışkanlıklarımızı değiştiren Netflix ve güncel distopik konularıyla her bölümünde ayrı bir kurgu barındıran ve mekânsal anlamda zihinleri yoran popüler Black Mirror dizisi ile mekânları bir yapboz gibi bir araya getirmeye yardımcı olan“Fifteen Million Merits”bölümü iki farklı izleyici grubu üzerindeki mekânsal duyumsama deneyleri ile tartışılmaktadır. Alan çalışmasının amacı, distopik imgeler barındıran“Fifteen Million Merits”filmine dair mekânsal deneyimin zamana ve izleme biçimine bağlı olarak algılanan imajın katmanlaşarak nitelik ve nicelik açısından gelişiminin incelenmesi ve değerlendirilmesidir. Burada bahsedilen zaman, o filmi kaç kez deneyimlediğimizi gösteren bir araçtır. Kişilerin bir filmi ilk kez (veya uzun zaman aradan sonra ilk kez) deneyimledikten sonra edindikleri imaj ile, o filmi ikinci kez deneyimledikten sonra, film mekânı ile daha gelişmiş bir algısal ilişki içine girmeleri sonucu edindikleri imaj arasındaki fark ortaya koyulmaya çalışılmıştır. Gözlemsel ve algısal yeteneğin mekânları tamamlamadaki rolünün distopik imgelerle ne kadar ilişkili olduğu; mekânsal algı ve duyumsamaların temsili, deneyimleme seferleri göz önünde bulundurularak değerlendirilmiştir.

Architecture needs the perspectives and forms of other disciplines to acquire and process data. Considering the two fundamental existential elements“time and space”of architecture and cinema; interdisciplinary relationship for architecture and cinema is beyond the interaction. The possibility of visualizing cities and urban societies in different forms makes cinema spatial. The rapid development of technology in the new age has brought new narratives. The most important of these is the change in the representation of space in architecture. Image production has increased as a result of technology development and opportunities. In this thesis, the vision of the future to evoke a dystopia and the power of capitalism, together with technology, to push the present into the future dystopias has created a purpose for evaluating spaces through films. This inquiry discusses the impact of Netflix, which radically changed the conventional way of film-watching practices, and renown Black Mirror series, which heavily exhausts the minds of the viewers in terms of the spatial context due to the changing themes and storylines in each episode in accordance with the contemporary dystopian subjects, on audience. In line with this purpose,“Fifteen Million Merits”was chosen because it helped to bring together spaces as a puzzle and this episode was discussed with spatial sensation experiments conducted on two different audience groups. The aim of the field study is to examine and evaluate the development of spatial experience of“Fifteen Million Merits”dist which includes dystopian images in terms of quality and quantity by stratification of perceived image depending on time and viewing style. The time mentioned here is a tool that shows how many times we've experienced that film. After trying to experience a film for the first time (or for the first time in a long time), the difference between the images that they acquired as a result of entering a more developed perceptual relationship with the film space after the second time they experienced the film was put forward. The extent to which the role of observational and perceptual ability in completing spaces is related to dystopian images; the representation of spatial perceptions and sensations was evaluated by considering the experience times.
