Özet
Silo yapıları, konumları, mimari özellikleri, sembolik özellikleri, mekânsal boyut ve kurgusu ile inşa edildikleri dönemin ekonomik ve teknolojik geçmişine tanıklık etmektedir. Günümüzde endüstri mirasının bir parçası olarak korunmaları gerektiği gündeme gelmiştir. Başlarda tarımsal ürünlerin depolanabilmesine olanak sağlayan silo yapıları, taş, kil, ahşap vb. yöresel malzemeler ile inşa edilirken, endüstri alanındaki gelişmeler ile depolanacak ürünün çeşitliliğinde ve miktarındaki artış silo yapılarının inşasında farklı yapım yöntemlerinin ve taşıyıcı sistemlerin geliştirilmesinin önünü açmıştır. 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında Joseph Dart ve Robert Dunbar'ın silo yapısındaki uzun süren yükleme-boşaltma işlemini hızlandıran buharlı tahıl asansörü çalışmaları ve C.F. Hanglin'in tasarladığı dairesel biçimli silo kuyusunu inşa etmek için geliştirdiği kayar kalıp sistemi ile silo yapıları tarımsal üretimin fabrikaları haline gelmiştir. Silo yapıları, betonarme dairesel formlu depolama kuyuları, yapı yükseklikleri ve kentin stratejik konumlarında yer almaları ( liman ve demiryolu hattı) ile dikkat çekmekte ve günümüzde yeniden işlevlendirilerek kullanılmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında silo yapılarının tarihsel gelişimi, türleri, mekânsal kurgu ve işleyişi, depolanacak ürün ve biçim ilişkisi ile yer seçim kriterleri incelenerek yeniden işlevlendirelecek silo yapılarına altlık oluşturacak bilgilerin sınıflandırması yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın diğer bir odağını oluşturan endüstri mirası kavramı, kapsamı ve endüstri yapılarının korunmasına ilişkin çalışmalar incelenmiş, yeniden işlevlendirmenin gerekliliği, süreçleri ve müdahale şekilleri irdelenmiştir. Bu iki konu odağında oluşturulan kavramsal çerçeve doğrultusunda yeniden işlevlendirilen silo yapı örnekleri incelenmiştir. Dünyada yapılmış olan uygulamalardan belirli ölçütlere göre seçilen örneklerin ilk kullanım–dönüşüm–yeni kullanım süreçleri ile yeni işlev doğrultusunda eski yapıya yapılan müdahaleler irdelenmiştir. Değerlendirmeler ve çalışmanın genel sonuçları ortaya konmuştur.

Silo structures testify to the economic and technological history of the time in which they were built with their location, architectural features, symbolic features, spatial dimensions and fiction. Nowadays, it has become current issue that they should be protected as part of the industrial heritage. Initially, silo structures that allow the storage of agricultural products, were being built with local materials such as stone, clay, wood, etc. The increase in the variety and quantity of the product to be stored with the developments in the industry has paved the way for the development of different construction methods and carrier systems in the construction of silo structures. In the second half of the 19th century, with the work of steamy grain elevator that accelerate the long loading and unloading process in the silo structure of Joseph Dart and Robert Dunbar, C.F. and the sliding formwork system developed by Hanglin to build the circular shaped silo well, the silo structures have become factories of agricultural production. Silo structures attract attention with their reinforced concrete circular shaped storage walls, building heights and their strategic location in the city (port and railway line), and are now being used with re-functionalized. Within the scope of the study, the historical development, types, spatial fiction and functioning of the silo structures, the relationship between the product and form to be stored, and the location selection criteria were examined, and the classification of the information that will provide a base for the silo structures to be re-functionalised has been made. The concept of industrial heritage, its scope and the protection of industrial structures, which constitute another focus of the study, were examined, the necessity, processes and intervention methods of the re-functioning were scrutinized. In the context of the conceptual framework formed in these two subject focuses, the silo structure samples that were re-functionalized were examined. The first usage - transformation - new usage processes of the samples selected according to certain criteria from the applications made in the world and the interventions made to the old structure in the direction of the new function were examined. Evaluations and general results of the study were presented.
