This study is conducted to apply lean manufacturing principles and tools to a die casting company's selected production line with the purpose of eliminating wastes and increasing the efficiency in the shop floor. A research methodology study is conducted in furtherance to choose the right research method for the project and its tools. Afterwards, a review of lean manufacturing was carried out in order to develop a background knowledge on lean manufacturing. This process enable the critical thinking and critical analysing ability on the topic of the study. The selected production line of the organization was analysed using value stream mapping tool in order to identify wastes and other problems such as long die changeover times and excess number of operators. Improvements are then proposed to address these waste and other problems. Improvements are subsequently proposed, such as cellular layout, automation and reduction of workforce. Proposed improvements, which worth 2,825,495₺, are clearly explained in the suggestion part regarding the reasons of offering them as well as the outcomes of these improvements. As a result of these improvements; 78% of the wastes occurring in the shop floor is eliminated, value adding ratio is increased by 26% and die changeover time decreased by 62%. Other effects of these improvements are decreased costs, increased capacity, profits, quality, reliability and competitiveness. Finally, an implementation plan is proposed by taking into account delivery notice periods and necessary movements of the machines. It is expected to 16 weeks to complete the implementation process for a cell, two years for fully implementing to whole production line
