Özet

Üniversite mezunu işsizler ve işsizlik üzerine olan bu çalışma diplomalıların işsizlik süreçlerine ve deneyimlerine odaklanmaktadır. Çalışma ve çalışmama karşıtlığı“tamamlayıcılık, karşılıklılık”temelinde ele alınarak ikisi arasındaki örüntüler çalışmanın bütününde göz önünde tutulmuştur. Diplomalı işsizlerle yüzyüze mülakat yöntemiyle gerçekleştirilen saha araştırması İstanbul'da gerçekleştirilmiştir. İşsizlerin yükseköğrenim yaşamlarından başlayarak işsizlik günlerine kadar süregelen hikayeleri“yaşam öyküsü anlatısı”kavrayışıyla takip edilmiştir. Diplomalıların anlatılarından ve yaşam dönemeçlerinden hareketle üç ana durakta iş ve işsizlik deneyimleri ele alınmıştır. Yükseköğrenim yılları, çalışma hayatı tecrübesi ve işsizlik süreci bu duraklardır. İşsizlik süreci ve deneyimi, işsizin yaşam dünyası araştırmanın ağırlık noktasını oluşturmaktadır. Diplomalıların yükseköğrenim yılları, sınıfsal sermayeleriyle tercihler ve zorunluluklar çerçevesinde tartışılmıştır. Eğitimden gelen eşitsizlikler, eğilimler ve birikimler iş, gelecek ve kariyer üzerinde etkilidir. Yükseköğrenimin son aşamasında ya da mezun olduktan sonra tecrübesiz işsizin iş arayışındaki farklar ve işsizlik hali bu minvalde oluşur. Diplomalıların çalışma yaşamı öyküleri ve deneyimleri işten ayrılma süreçlerini ve sonrasındaki iş arama süreçlerini belirler. Diplomalıların çalışma yaşamından getirdiği deneyimlerin, bilgilerin iş arama sürecini ve beklentilerine olan etkisi, tecrübeli işsizin iş arama süreci tecrübeli olma niteliği ile birlikte tartışılacaktır. İş arama sürecinde kullanılan yollar, teknikler aktarıldıktan sonra iş görüşmelerindeki strateji ve taktiklere yer verilecektir. İşsizlik işgücü oranlarına dahil olmayanların ekonomik yoksunluk halinin ötesinde anlamları taşır. İşsiz günler çalışmanın, işin anlamıyla birlikte anlaşılabilir. İşsizlik ile çalışma arasında zaman, para ve hareket kabiliyeti açısından karşılıtlıklar vardır. Bu karşıtlık ilişkisi biribirini tamamlayan bir niteliğe sahiptir. İşsizin zaman deneyimi bu çerçevede oluşur ve işsizlik süresine paralel olarak çoğul anlamlara sahip olur. Bu araştırma işsizliğin gündelik ritmine, işin ve işsizliğin tekabül ettiği anlamlara, işsiz olma halinin çözen ve yeniden kuran yönlerini böylesi bir arka plan ile ele almaktadır. İşsizlerin diğerleriyle kurdukları etkileşim, toplumsal olarak inşa edilen norm ve değerlerin işsizlik halinde sürekliliği ve kopuşları işsizliğin toplumsallığı açısından irdelenmiştir. Aile, yaş, cinsiyet gibi aktör ve konumların işsizin yaşam dünyası içerisindeki yeri ve rolü ele alınmıştır. Uzayan işsizlik halinin toplumsal aidiyet, işsizliğin şahsileşmesi ve meritokratik vaadin çözülüşü gibi tahrip edici etkileri aktarılcaktır. Bu çalışma işsizlik halini diplomalı işsizlerin deneyimleri ve aktarımlarına dayanarak ele almakta, işsizlere dair istatistiksel, ekonomik ve bireyin ruh haline indirgenen açıklamaların ötesinde, işsizlerin gündelik rutinlere, pratiklerine ve etkileşimlerine odaklanmaktadır. Eğitim, iş, zaman, para, hareket, aile, yaş, toplumsal aidiyet, faillik gibi etki ve konumların işsizlikle olan etkileşimine işsizliğin toplumsallığı perspektifinden bakmaktadır.

This study is about unemployed university graduates and unemployment and it is focused on the unemployment processes and experiences of university graduates. In the study, the contrast between employment and unemployment was examined on the basis of“complementariness, reciprocity”and the patterns between these two circumstances was taken into consideration throughout the study. The field research was implemented with face-to-face interviewing method, in Istanbul. The story of unemployed people starting from their higher education lives and continuing through their periods of unemployment were followed up with the conception of“biographic narrative”. In the light of the stories of graduates and the milestones in their lives, employment and unemployment experiences were discussed on three milestones. These milestones are the higher education years, working life experience and the unemployment process. The process and experience of unemployment, and the life-world of the unemployed are the center of gravity of this research. Higher education years of university graduates were discussed within the framework of their class capital, choices and necessities. Inequalities in education, personal and accumulations are influential on profession, future and career. During the final phase of higher education or after graduation, divergences in the ways the unemployed persons without experience look for jobs and the condition of unemployment emerge in this direction. Working life stories and experiences of graduates determine the processes of quitting jobs and looking for new jobs afterwards. The influence of the experience and knowledge that the graduates earn in their working life on the process of job search and expectations, the job search process of the unemployed persons with work experience will be discussed together with the qualification of being experienced. After reporting the methods and techniques used in the process of job search, the study will also cover the strategies and tactics used in job interviews. Unemployment contains meanings beyond the economic deprivation of those who are not included in employment participation rates. Days of unemployment can be understood with the meaning of working and the job. There are contrasts between unemployment and employment in terms of time, money and mobility. This relationship of contrast has a mutually complementary character. The time experience of the unemployed person is formed within this framework and acquires multiple meanings parallel to the period of unemployment. This research examines the daily rhythm of unemployment, the meanings corresponding to employment and unemployment, the destructive and reconstructive aspects of the state of unemployment with the aforementioned background. The interaction of unemployed individuals with others, the continuity and disengagements of socially-constructed norms and values in the period of unemployment was examined from the social aspect of unemployment. The place and role of such positions as family, age, gender in the life-world of the unemployed individual were examined. The destructive impacts of prolonged unemployment state such as the disintegration of social belonging and the meritocratic promise and the personalization of unemployment are also covered In the study. This study discusses the state of unemployment on the basis of the experiences and expressions of unemployed university graduates and focuses on the daily routines, practices and interactions of unemployed individuals, moving beyond explanations reduced to statistics about, economic conditions and individual mood of the unemployed individuals. The study also examines the interaction between unemployment and the variety of factors and positions such as education, job, time, money, mobility, family, age, social belonging, agency, from the perspective of the social character of unemployment.
