Özet
Avrupa'da en tanınmış Flaman sanatçı olan Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), Barok resim sanatının önde gelen usta isimlerindendir. Reform karşıtı sunak resimleri, portreler, manzara resimleri, mitolojik ve canlandırma içeren tablolarıyla tanınan ressam, Rönesans hümanizmiyle eğitim görmüş bir bilim adamı ve sanat koleksiyoncusudur. Rubens yalnızca memleketi Flandre'ın değil, 18. yüzyılın İngiliz, 18. ve 19. yüzyılların Fransız resmini de etkileyen evrensel bir sanatçıdır. Rubens'in üslubu ve onu diğer Barok ressamlardan ayıran özellikleri taşkın canlılığı, yaşama sevinci ve yaratma dehası ile açılanabilir. Resimlerinde yer alan sedef tenli, taşkın vücutlu, keyifli melekler, onun eşsiz sanatını yansıtan en önemli figürlerdir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ressamın dini, mitolojik ve alegorik tablolarında yer alan melek figürlerinin analizlerini yaparak, bu figürleri ikonografik anlatımlarıyla tanıtmaktır. Konu ele alınırken öncelikle Peter Paul Rubens'in hayatı, kişiliği, sanatı, etkilendiği ressamlar ve bulunduğu dönem içerisindeki sanatsal üslubu değerlendirilmiştir. Bu değerlendirmenin devamında Barok sanat üzerinde durularak ressamın ürün verdiği sanat çağı, Rubens'in sanatını analiz edebilmek amacıyla detaylandırılmıştır. Çalışmanın devamında Hıristiyan sanatındaki melek anlayışı üzerinde ayrıntılı olarak durulmuştur. Bu bağlamda, tez çalışmamın katalog kısmında Rubens'in dini, mitolojik ve alegorik konulardan oluşan 25 tablosu tanıtılmış, melek figürleri ikonografi ve üslup açısından detaylandırılmıştır. Çalışmanın ana kurgusu olan melek figürü üzerinde durularak, sadece sanatçının melek figürleri bağlamında değil, melek figürlerinin Avrupa sanatında geçirmiş olduğu değişimleri ele almak amacıyla, kendinden önceki ve çağdaş olduğu sanatçıların eserleriyle örneklendirilerek incelenmiştir.

Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), the most renowned Flemish artist in Europe, is a leading master of art in Baroque painting. The painter, known for his paintings of anti-reform altar paintings, portraits, landscapes, mythological and animated paintings, was a scientist and art collector who was trained in Renaissance humanism. Rubens was a universal artist who influenced not only his hometown of Flandre, but also the English painting of 18th century and France painting of 18th and 19th century. Rubens's style and its distinguishing features from other Baroque painters can be explained by the vibrancy of the flood, the joy of life and the genius of creating. Pearlescent skinned, plump , and delightful angels in their paintings are the most important figures that reflect his unique art. The aim of this study is to analyze the angel figures in the painter's religious, mythological and allegoric paintings and to present them with iconographic narratives. In focusing on the subject, the life, personality, art, influenced painters and artistic style of Peter Paul Rubens were evaluated. In the continuation of this evaluation, baroque art was emphasized and the art age in which the painter gave products was detailed in order to analyze Rubens's art. In the continuation of the study, the search for angels in Christian art was emphasized in detail. In this context, in the catalogue section of my thesis work, 25 paintings of Rubens consisting of religious, mythological and allegoric subjects were presented and angel figures were detailed in terms iconography and style. With an emphasis on the angel figure, which is the main fiction of the study, it was studied not only in the context of the angel figures of the artist, but also in the context of the changes that the angel figures have undergone in European art, with the works of the artists who were before him and contemporary.
